At this Mongolian chain eatery, diners cook meat & vegetables in broth at the table.

Want the best hot pot in the Portland area? Willing to drive out to Beaverton? Then you’re in luck—Happy Lamb Hot Pot is hands down the best hot pot in PDX.
Located in Beaverton, Happy Lamb is the perfect place to get your hot pot fix. This was my first time, so I went with friends who knew what they were doing, and it was such a great experience. It’s a fun spot to share a meal, spacious and comfortable, though it can definitely get busy. Plenty of parking and super friendly staff made things even better.
The food was amazing. The sauce and sides bar had tons of tasty options, with endless combinations to really build your flavors. I went with the all-you-can-eat premium, which gives you a little bit of everything—and it did not disappoint.
This is ideal for a cold, rainy day. Give yourself plenty of time to eat, relax, and enjoy the experience. And honestly, the pictures don’t do it justice.
Pro tip: Go on a weekday for lunch or happy hour if you can. Highly recommend—enjoy!

The host sat us at a table with menus and a tablet but didn’t explain how their system works. We waited several minutes for someone to come. Finally the host came back and I told him it was our first time so then he got some instructions for us. Soon after our server arrived and rushed through how to order on the tablet. I would expect the host to have done all of that when we were seated. They really need to improve their customer service. The food was good. The all you can eat option is the best deal if each person eats more than 2 orders of food. We ordered al a cart which was a little spending. I should have eaten the broth after our food was cooked.

Portland’s OG AYCE hotpot place. I love their side dishes especially fried pork (so good). They have variety to choose from. Meat and veges are fresh. I wish they have more meatball selection to choose from. The only downside is the soup is not spicy. As someone who likes to eat spicy, Happy Lamb is not my favorite but my family love going there. They gradually increase the price over time which is understandable with the inflation.
Overall, I still think this is a good place. Note that, the charged additional for sauce bar. We also see soup fees or something in our bill.

We tried 6 broths: Tomato, Golden Cabbage Marrow, House Original Marrow, House Spicy Marrow, Curry Marrow, and Mushroom. Most of them were tasty, except for the Golden Cabbage and Curry. The meats looked and tasted fresh. You can’t go wrong with their lamb, especially since it’s in their name. The sauce bar costs extra, which I found odd. For the price point, I expected more interaction from the staff. Someone in our group got really sick after eating here, and others reported minor stomach issues. Because of that, I will not be returning.

Had an absolutely fantastic experience at this hotpot restaurant! The broth was rich, flavorful, and packed with the perfect balance of spices — you could taste the depth from the fresh herbs, chilies, and aromatics simmering away. The dipping sauce selection was excellent, allowing us to customize every bite to our liking. The side dishes, especially the stir-fried rice with eggs, peas, and carrots, were light yet flavorful, complementing the hotpot perfectly.
Service was attentive and friendly, with staff checking in just enough to make sure everything was going smoothly without being intrusive. The ingredients were fresh, the portions generous, and the overall atmosphere warm and inviting.
If you love authentic, well-prepared hotpot with quality ingredients and great service, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Happy lamb is one of my favorite hot pot experiences and we noticed they’ve updated their menus and they include even more food options now! We also appreciate that while they had some slight confusion on ADA compliance laws they were open to receiving information and we were able to leave them an ADA card in regards to Service animals and the two legal questions they are allowed (and truly Encouraged) to ask! They were kind, and very curtious with us, and provided phenomenal service, the food was amazing and we loved all of the new options including crab legs! We always get the sauce bar (dont skip it!) And I personally love the cucumber salad (spicy, amazing, umami flavors). If you have a group who cant decide easily get the 3 broth option and go to town! You definitely need to come hungry to eat your fill! We love it here and will be back many times to come in the future.

It is very expensive to eat here, even if you are doing the price per item. The food is good, but they nickel and dime you to death. It’s $3 for access to the sauce for the food (what other places charges for salt?), and nothing is labeled (in regard to allergies). They don’t have individual broths at the table, and even parties of 4 are sharing one pot. This is customary in the Portland metro area, but not necessarily throughout the US. So it’s good to know before you go, especially if you have food allergies. Communication from the servers isn’t great, not due to language issues, they just assumed we knew things we didn’t. The lack of communication was truly frustrating. My spouse and I shared a warm sake, it was meh, and not even that warm. I’m not sure we will go back, especially when you can buy the meats at the Asian Market nextdoor, and make your own hot pot for a fraction of the cost.

This is my experience. Waited over an hour before we were seated. We are a group of 4. A family of 3 was seated before us, they checked in after us. The front got us seated when I told them about the situation and they gave us a free lamb chop. Daughter ordered large portions but we were given small portions meats and veggies so we had to asked for more. This is important – the broth has no taste – we asked for condiments and were directed to the corner (sauce bar). We did not grab any of the other stuff on the sauce/salad bar except soy sauce. We did not plan on getting the salad bar because we wanted the hot soup. It was a rainy evening. Surprise that they added $2.99 per person for the soy sauce. Explained it to the front when i was paying but she said sorry. That was it.

We tried the all-you-can-eat menu, and it was a great experience. The variety of meats, vegetables, tofu, and noodles was great, everything was fresh and great quality. They offer a higher-tier meat selection for an additional cost, but we stuck with the regular option and were still very satisfied.
A nice surprise was that they had chicken wings, which were unexpectedly delicious.
I recommend ordering from the menu options marked with the lamb drawing on the left side of the menu item, those were especially good. They also had other items at an additional cost. Next time, we’ll definitely try their skewers.
Service was great overall—some staff members don’t speak much English, but they were still friendly and very prompt. One small downside is that the sauce bar requires an extra charge, which felt like something that should have been included.
Overall, a great hot pot experience with plenty of fresh ingredients and good service. Looking forward to coming back!
