Very fun old school vibes, great burgers that taste home made. They do not offer fries, but good fried potatoes or potato chips. And their pie is excellent! Potatoes were upgraded with cheese for free. They DO NOT take any cards or mobile pay, only Cash.

Stopped in for lunch yesterday. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and my wife the Ortega cheeseburger. There is only counter seating on fixed barstools so my knees were hard against the counter so you taller guys know. We asked for chips so the waitress brought over a little snack bag size Lays potato chips which costs $4 on the menu!
Burgers come on a paper plate wrapped in paper like old school burger joint. Bun seemed fresh, lettuce and tomato ok. The burger had no flavor. Not flame broiled or seasoned on the flat top. Just Blah!
My wife didn’t eat half of hers, I ate a little more than half of mine. It was terrible!
First and last time. What Burger place doest have fries? That’s a staple of burger joints all across America!

Wonderful chili size with a side of Jack’s potatoes (cheese, onion, and garlic) Definitely the place to go for excellent service and down home food! If you call a day ahead, they’ll have your favorite pie ready! You don’t have to buy the whole pie! Chocolate cream, banana cream, coconut cream, pineapple cream, peanut butter, and peanut butter with a layer of chocolate aka rooti tooti are among the pie choices. New hours 10 am – 3:30 pm M-F

Rubin and Francis have been serving up excellent food here for over 45 years.
I have been a customer here for many years, food is always excellent.
Lunchtime their cheeseburger or my favorite Ortega burger, will always satisfy.
They open for breakfast at 6:00 am. My favorite is their chili verde omelette, gosh it is good. They serve it with country potatoes with cheese on top. They are delicious.
Come on in and say hi to Francis who will wait on you while her husband Rubin, will cook for you. Don’t forget a slice of pie.

Best place in the whole area, super kind staff, historical spot in Bakersfield.
My friend and I came from Italy and we unexpectedly found this spectacular diner by chance, on our road trip to Los Angles.
Here, we met very wonderful people in a cozy and informal place.
The food here is spectacular and with the atmosphere that Bakersfield’s citizens create, you will have the best meal of your life.
It’s not something we can explain, you need to feel it.
Don’t forget to try the peanut butter pie.

Such a great place. Soon as i walked in i knew i was gonna like it, all of the Yodas and baby yodas are so cool. I got a regular ol cheeseburger and slice of rudy pie. The burger was really good, nice big juicy patty. The pie was amazing, a chocolate and peanutbutter creation, with a delicious pie crust. The staff was friendly and very helpful. It is a small place, and fills up quickly, so got out food to go. They are also cash only, so plan ahead and bring cash with you. Definitely recommend this place for a good burger.

Went the other day. The Lady I’m guessing was the owner, was a junk yard dog. Mean. Took the family, the lady asked the kids what they wanted to drink. They didnt hear her and she kinda got mad at them! She raised her voice. Food was not good. The chili tasted like it was a week old. Made your boy sick not Gonna lie. It was a rough night. I could deal with the junk food, but the attitude and bad service? Come on.

Place was recommended by a friend and just a FYI it is a cash only restaurant. We ordered a Holy special burger and a bacon burger with the jack potatoes. Everything was Delicious no complaints. Staff was friendly and fast, wait wasn’t long at all. Definitely will return. We predicted we would spend 40 bucks before arriving, our total came to 39 so right on the money. I would recommended trying Happy jacks out!!!
