I was pleasantly surprised with Happy Dragon. I like the feel of the place with a lot of different inspirational messages on the walls. They offer samples of anything you are thinking of buying. The entrees were pretty good – I had orange chicken, pepper chicken, and fire cracker chicken. The chow mein is really not very good, but the rice is fine. I think this location is not super busy and we went at a very slow time. So there was not a lot of food pre-prepared. They offered to make anything we wanted – quickly. Overall I liked it and I’d visit again.

The food is very tasty with great portions and prices that are competitive. It is a small shop, so be patient when waiting for your order. The staff are prompt and very friendly, and do their absolute best to get you your order as fast as possible. The atmosphere is great, feeling like a mom and pop shop, with very neat custom decorations.

The generals chicken is especially good, with fresh green onion and the right amount of chili peppers. The noodles taste great, and are nice and chewy. The pepper chicken is light and packed with flavor and wonderful vegetables.

All around, great food, nice people, a fun restaurant, and good prices. Especially if you’re a student.

A very pleasant place to enjoy Chinese food. Everything was delicious, well prepared, and full of flavor. The service was excellent; the staff is very friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The portions are generous and the prices are fair. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be coming back✨✨

I really liked it but not as much as panda. I also didn’t like the chow mein

Finally decided to give Happy Dragon a try. Honestly, I would say it was “Okay”, but not great.
The orange chicken was really good, but the BBQ chicken was a bit dry/tough. Rice and chow mein were average. Basically a Panda Express but smaller container/portions.
Staff were super friendly.

As the other reviews have said, some of the food is lacking in exciting flavors. But in my opinion, the cheap price completely makes up for it. I spent 8 bucks on the single entree and I got enough food to be stuffed and then some. It honestly hit the spot for me, and I’ll definitely be back. Guy at the counter was super kind and fun as well!

WE LOVE IT! Our first time here and we were so impressed on the speed and quality of the food. So much variety, the hard part was deciding what to get.

I’m a student at Lone Peak Highschool and the food there sucks but they have off campus lunch. For a student meal here it’s $7 for an entree, 2 sides, and a water, which is cheap for me. The food is great in texture, flavor, and appearance which is more than a lot of places can say. The workers are also very kind and have great manners to all of their customers from what I’ve seen and experienced!

We live in Pleasant Grove where, aside from The Smoked Taco and The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, there’s really not many other restaurants worth spending your money on as dining out gets more and more expensive. For fast Chinese food I don’t know of ANY options, even bad ones, so we’ve been driving to Orem, until we stumbled onto this little gem in Cedar Hills.

Walked in about 20 minutes before they closed and weren’t expecting much more than dried out food in dirty, day-old serving trays, but we were pleasantly wrong. We were immediately greeted by an incredibly friendly Latino young man who spoke only enough English to get by, but who immediately offered us some samples with a smile from ear to ear. My wife shrugged and said “Sure” even though we were pretty close to deciding what we were going to order without them. He poked at some General Tsao’s chicken with a toothpick and handed it to her. “Oh yum!” Then handed me one, then poked at some honey shrimp. Before long, I had one sample in my mouth and two more in hand when our new friend was going for more. I waved him off with a smile. If he kept at it, he was going to get me full without paying for my dinner.

Thoroughly impressed already, we placed our orders. I got the Mongolian beef and, after the sample of that honey shrimp I didn’t care how much the premium was, I had to have more! My wife got the General Tsao’s chicken (the sample sold her, too) and the last of the broccoli beef. After our containers were loaded, he walked over to the stove and fired up a wok. I guessed he was going to get started on some more broccoli beef for the next guest just before ringing us up. Then he went to the register and punched in our orders and I paid. But he didn’t give us our food. He kept smiling and saying “just a minute” and kept working the wok, dumping about 8 ounces of beef into it. Finally, in broken English he explained that he didn’t think my wife got enough beef with her broccoli and he wanted to make her some more! Finally cooked, he dumped a ton of fresh, sizzling hot beef on top of her already-full container! (Look at the photo – the broccoli beef is in the upper left and you can hardly see any broccoli!) We just looked at each other and smiled! He tied up our bag with a huge, toothy smile, then in broken English thanked us for coming and invited us to come back again. About as sincere and genuine as you can get.

When there are so many other places that are just mediocre with lacking service, this was a breath of fresh air we couldn’t stop talking about all the way home.

While the food is very good, it’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it is about as good as Chinese fast food gets (and blows Panda out of the running without even trying). That said, the honey shrimp is outstanding and solidly worth the upcharge. We came away completely stuffed and my wife had so much beef on her broccoli, she just couldn’t finish it all. We’ll definitely be back, and much sooner than later!

Thank you for the good food and exceptional service, Happy Dragon! We look forward to seeing you next time!

An alternative to Panda Express. I would say this food is on par with the chain restaurant (some things better, some things like the lo mein are worse). They have some good looking fruit juices and other drink options. Service was very friendly so I’d rather support this establishment than Panda Express, since it is locally owned.
