I recently had the pleasure of trying Happy Belly at Workforce Brewing in Plainfield, and I was absolutely blown away by their Italian Cheese Steak. As someone who regularly makes trips to Chicago just to enjoy a Philly’s Best cheesesteak, I can honestly say that this one from Happy Belly IS the best I’ve ever had.
The Italian Cheese Steak was a work of art. The steak was sliced thin, cooked to perfection, and had that tender, juicy texture that every steak lover dreams of. The mozzarella was melted just right, creating a luscious, creamy layer that paired beautifully with the meat. The peppers and onions were sautéed to a soft, sweet perfection, adding depth and richness to every bite.
The cherry pepper aioli was the perfect finishing touch. It was the perfect touch that brought the flavors together in a harmonious way. And then there’s the garlic roll—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and infused with just the right amount of garlic flavor. It held everything together without getting soggy, making each bite an absolute joy.
Every element of this sandwich was executed flawlessly, and it all combined to create a cheesesteak experience that I won’t soon forget. If you find yourself in Plainfield, a stop at Happy Belly is a must. You won’t be disappointed!

This place is inside of the Werkforce taproom. We come here often enough that the owners, two formally trained chefs, know my wife and I. My favorite is the grilled cheese. The tomato dipping sauce is crazy good. Really though, I’ve liked everything that I’ve tried in the menu. Nice that you can have a beer with your lunch if you want, or take it out to Ten Drops next door.

Easy pick up and great cooking instructions, even for me, a non-cook.

Happy belly catered my husbands surprise party and I’m so happy I went with them as the caterer! Kathy was so helpful via email beforehand as well as in person the day of. They have multiple party packages to choose from and they are very reasonably priced. We chose the taco party package (she also made vegan options very easily!) and everyone couldn’t stop talking about how good the chicken tinga was. I’m pretty sure people were fighting over the leftovers to bring home lol. I would 10/10 recommend them for your next event!
