I have been going to this place since the 1970s. It all started on McKee Road in East San Jose. I have pretty much been going periodically ever since then. I don’t expect much from happy house and they usually deliver just about what I expect. The food off of the menu is predictable and pretty good not too expensive. One thing has always bothered me however. Asian chicken salad. I’ll bet in a quart of their salad one would be lucky to find a level tablespoon of tiny, itty-bitty burnt chicken bits. Don’t get me wrong. I’ll still buy it because it just taste good especially when it’s drowning in teriyaki sauce, but in good conscience, they should really drop the word chicken from the menu when it describes the salad.

I always enjoy coming here when I can. Especially for my husband he lives the food from here. He has been coming here since he was a little kid with his parents when he lived in San Jose. The food is always delicious, hot, and affordable. Great customer service and don’t have to wait super long either. They do get busy here, but it is worth the wait. Always look to trying something new when I come here. Interior and exterior is always clean and organized. I wish you guys sold your bottles of Teriyaki sauce now but I understand the pandemic screwed up many businesses. MY HUSBAND HOPES SOMEDAY YOU GUYS MIGUT SET UP SHOP IN TRACY, CA SOME DAY. HE AND I WOULD WOULD BE LOYAY CUSTOMERS EVERY WEEK OR DAY TOO. Keep doing what you do. Thank you.

I’ve been coming here since I was 15 years old. I’m now 43. My biggest complaint about this place is that they stopped selling the terriyaki bottles because they’re blaming the pandemic. THERE IS NO MORE PANDEMIC. PLEASE START SELLING THE TERRIYAKI BOTTLES AGAIN! I doubt I’ll give this place any more business ever again. The prices are way too expensive and the portions are terribly small. All I wanted was a bottle of their signature terriyaki sauce and they blamed it on the pandemic. Guess I won’t be coming here ever again. This place is sure to go out of business soon. It used to be a lovely place but they emphasize on the pandemic way too much. There’s no more pandemic people! I love the salad and chicken terriyaki strips with brown rice but this just isn’t worth it anymore. The owner of this place really NEEDS to get a college degree and learn contemporary business. It has great potential but I’m constantly telling my family and friends NEVER to come here. The portions are horribly small and the prices are ridiculously overpriced. This place used to be nice in the 90’s right next to Japan town but since they don’t sell terriyaki sauce bottles anymore, I’ll go somewhere else. Nice restaurant and lovely atmosphere but it’s not worth the price and they stopped selling Happi House terriyaki bottles forever. THERE IS NO MORE PANDEMIC! BRING THEM BACK OR THIS PLACE WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS VERY SOON. Located on 5th Street in San Jose CA, this place was a gem and loved. Not so much anymore and everything is overpriced. Portions of food are so small it could barely feed a tiny mouse. These people are blaming everything on the pandemic and it’s sad. I used to love eating here every week. Not anymore. I’ll find somewhere else who serves terriyaki food. Don’t waste your money here. Management is to blame for this joint going out of business. Not worth your time and you only get a tiny portion of food. You can’t even purchase the TERRIYAKI BOTTLES anymore! Sad!

Love the tempura dipped vegetables and pork teriyaki. I make it a point to go to Happy House when in San Jose. I live in Hollister and unfortunately we don’t have a Happy House Restaurant nearby. The service is excellent and food is fresh and delicious. Japan town is going thru alot of construction looks like new buildings with dual housing and shopping being constructed close to Happy House. Not to worry about parking they have a fairly large parking lot. Try the food next time your in town. You won’t be disappointed.

My family and I love this place. My husband and I have been eating here since we were kids. The only sad part is they close the one on blossom hill, which was in our area. Best Chinese chicken salad around and udon.

We were hungry and found ourselves in the neighborhood. We wanted to go somewhere else, but it was closed (even though Google said they were open). We found this place, and we were pleasantly surprised. Large portions. Good takeout Japanese food. Maybe not to drive 20 minutes out of the way, but if I’m in the neighborhood again, I’d consider it. Extra star because logo looks like the Nardcore symbol.
