I was really surprised looking at the recent reviews on this place. This was my family and I’s first experience at Hanzo’s and we thought it was incredible. We came during happy hour and the drinks + food were so delicious! You definitely get what you pay for. They had a wonderful atmosphere, and were playing Spy Family on one of the TV’s. We got there half an hour after they opened and they were packed by the time we left. Service was wonderful and everyone was so nice, they checked back regularly, and food came out at reasonable times. We are absolutely going to come back! (I highly recommend their matcha cocktail and the Charmander’s Crudo)

Great little cocktail bar with Asian fusion. They just did a menu change so a little different than what it’s had for the past year that I recall. Still a couple vegan options. I got the garden roll and fried tofu without the spicy mayo. Miso soup on point as usual. There’s a brussel sprouts veg bowl with a yummy sauce I like too. The avadashintofu is no longer on the menu but they made it for me anyways.
Seems like servers aren’t too familiar with new menu yet because they kept running to back to ask chef what was in certain items or any questions about what the sauces were.
Overall best little spot especially during happy hour. They have it twice.

I haven’t been here in a bit, but I still enjoyed it despite some previous negative reviews. We sat at the bar and the bartender Joel was great!
My biggest complaint is that the TVs were playing static “ambiance” images. I really miss the anime that Hanzo used to play and would love to see that return!

This is a bar that serves bites. Note, the prices are high for the actual amount of food you get. Don’t go counting on dinner or to fill up. Great drinks and variety on those. Most of the staff is super friendly and our server had only been working a short time but was great.

Hidden Gem!! My daughter found this place and it was two thumbs up.. Fun and relaxing spot. Good drinks and delicious food. Great spot for Happy Hour. My girls and I had a great experience. Attentive servers. Will definitely go back!

Hanzo. What happened? You were the Chosen One. You were my favorite happy hour spot in the city. My first time going back after the closure is going to be my last, I think. The menu lost most of its charm, we only got part of our order and it came out cold, the bartenders – while very friendly – were taking a lot of shots really early in the shift (I get it, but man, space it out), and the environment just felt really plain when it used to be unique and inviting. Hanzo, you used to be a hub of the San Antonio scene – now the only thing that sets you apart from everywhere else is how far you fell. I am immeasurably disappointed.

This place has amazing cocktails and an excellent happy hour! The sushi rolls are fresh and the flavor combinations are delicious. The miso soup was wonderful. The wings, we got naked, were crispy and had an incredible batter and crunch. The cucumber salad is a refreshing appetizer. They have Happy Hour all day on Sunday and Monday. I highly recommend. If going on Friday for happy hour you might want to try and get there by 4:30, it gets busy. There is outdoor seating available.

My favorite was the yuzu lemon pepper wings. So crunchy and the flavor! We tried three rolls – all delish. The bang-bang shrimp was very tasty!

The menu is simple the happy hour is fantastic and the atmosphere couldn’t be more intimate. I’ve come here several times with my wife. It’s cool that they run anime(In a classy non neck beard way) and other seasonal movies in the background. If they can maintain this formula they will continue to be successful.

Great drinks and food. However, they discontinued my favorite part about this place—the sushi boats! Our food took 40-45 minutes to come out even though we only ordered three rolls. The happy hour is a great deal though. Great atmosphere.
