For the many years I have schooled and lived locally to Rutgers, I have never been here, thinking it was ‘just a pancake place’.

So this weekend, thanks to my dear husband’s craving for their “Roast Beef Special”, I found out that H&G is not just a pancake place… Its a no frills, but delicious American grill place.

Super easy to walk in and order, got myself a BBQ Bacon chicken crisp (aka quesadilla), my husband’s special (aka wrap) and two bottles drinks for 22 bucks.

Food came super quick. We barely sat down on their outdoor table before the staff came to deliver our takeout food. Short drive home and ate it while warm.

I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t look like much, being square and all, but the meat chunks were tender and sliced just right, with the gooey cheese spaced out evenly with the tangy BBQ sauce. I didn’t even need the sour cream (chose that over salsa), since it was already so flavorful as is.

This place went from underestimated, to on my list for quick eats in the area.

I visited the Hansel n Griddle on Easton Ave on November 25th around 3:00 pm, and I got their Popcorn Chicken Buffalo Wrap which came to be about $13.71. As a Rutgers student, I really love their location since it is conveniently close to College Ave, making it super easy to walk over and grab something before or after class. The Popcorn Chicken Buffalo Wrap tasted amazing, crispy, flavorful, and the perfect level of buffalo spice, so I honestly had no complaints.

The service was great as well. Even though there were a few other customers inside, the cashier greeted me right away and took my order quickly. My food was ready in about 10 minutes, and one of the staff members even brought it directly to my table, which I really appreciated. The inside of the restaurant was clean, warm, and had the usual busy and friendly Rutgers atmosphere. It felt comfortable enough to sit and eat without feeling rushed.

For anyone with dietary preferences, they offer options like whole wheat wraps or grilled chicken instead of fried. They also accept RU Express, which makes it convenient for students. Overall, I had a really positive experience and would easily recommend the Popcorn Buffalo Wrap to anyone looking for something filling and flavorful. In general, Hansel n Griddle is a great spot to check out!

I went to Hansel n Griddle today at around 3:00 in the afternoon, and i would say I recommend the diner for anyone looking for a quick bite to eat. I ordered a steak and egg breakfast burrito and it was very affordable and was very good as well. The food was made, prepared and served to me very quickly, in about 5 minutes or less I would say. Although Hansel n Gridle doesn’t have a traditional diner-like aesthetic the interior is very nicely designed and creates a nice eating atmosphere. It has a menu with a very wide variety of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it is open from 9am to midnight, so it is a very convenient spot if you need a place to eat at some point in the day.

Wanted to try something new and close by so I went to Hansel n Griddle. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Chicken crisp which was really good. Also got the Cookie Monster shake and fried oreos which were good as well. The atmosphere was okay but the seating options were vast and gave you the options of booths, tables, or outdoor seating. Will definitely be coming back soon

Wanted to try something new and came here. It had vegetarian options and I ordered their grilled portabella sandwich. It was great, served hot and fresh and very flavorful. I’m glad they had indoor seating. Also had free pickles which was a nice touch. Bring cash since they charge a cc fee. Would reccomend!

I visited Hansel ’n Griddle in New Brunswick yesterday around 5:00 PM for an early dinner. Parking in the area can be tricky, but it’s an easy walk from campus. This location feels like a modern take on an older diner, bright, casual, and fast-paced, with a kiosk system where you order digitally and pick up your food at the counter. There’s no table service, but the staff behind the counter were efficient and moved orders quickly.

I ordered pancakes and fries, and both came out in about 10 minutes. The portions were generous, especially for the price. The pancakes were fluffy and lightly sweet, and the fries were hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. The atmosphere was relaxed but busy, and the setup makes it great for students who want quick comfort food. I’d definitely recommend the pancakes.

On November 25th at 1:30 p.m., I visited Hansel n’ Griddle on Easton Avenue in New Brunswick and ordered their Mushroom Swiss Burger, which came to a total of $15.75. The location doesn’t have its own designated parking, but there is plenty of street parking available along Easton Avenue and the surrounding blocks, making it fairly easy to access. Inside, the space was clean, with a relaxed and comfortable ambiance typical of a popular college-area eatery. I placed my order at the counter, and the service was quick as my food arrived within 5–10 minutes. There were around eight other customers during my visit, mostly Rutgers students grabbing food to go. Hanzel and Griddle’s menu is broad, offering a range of wraps, sandwiches, omelets, and other casual staples. My Mushroom Swiss Burger was satisfying, with well-cooked mushrooms and a good balance of flavors between the Swiss cheese and the burger. Overall, the experience was convenient, efficient, and enjoyable, making it a solid spot for a quick, freshly prepared meal near campus.

I visited Hansel ‘n Griddle on Easton Ave today and tried the Bacon Chicken Crisp. The portion size was generous, and the sandwich was hot and freshly made. The chicken was crispy and tender, and the bacon added a nice salty crunch. The flavors were balanced, and it didn’t feel overly greasy. The staff was friendly and the service was quick, even during a busy time. The price was reasonable for the size of the meal. The atmosphere is casual, and it’s a convenient spot for a quick bite near Rutgers. I would definitely come back to try other items, especially their quesadillas. Overall, a solid late-night or everyday student meal option.

Was looking for something to eat and came across this place. The staff inside were very pleasant. They have an all-day breakfast and lunch menu and specials of the day menu as well. We ordered the smoothies and OMG they were amazing. The strawberry landslide had simple and fresh ingredients and the Cookie Monster tasted like Oreo heaven.

Damn this hurts to write.. Ive been eating at hansel for about 10 years and every single time its been 11/10

But now after not having it since sometime last year, it baffles me how spending $80 will get you half the utensils needed, missing straws, chicken that looks and tastes like its been deep fryed in oil that hasn’t been changed in weeks, and hair in the side of mayo. As I haven’t been there in a minute ill give the benefit of the doubt and hope this was a one off experience
