We ordered right before the 10:00 pm kitchen cutoff and the quality was still excellent, thank you! Service was warm and friendly, and the taxidermy accented décor adds a distinctly local vibe.
Tip: after 10 pm the menu is limited to appetizers and pizza only.
Also, there is some sort of Porsche drifting contest in town. Can this place get any cooler?

Wings were great, spinach dip fantastic. We came to this restaurant to try the Elk so I asked Brock what he would recommend. He gave us very knowledgeable guidance and we ordered the Bison Filet and Elk burger. We ordered both medium as they get dry done any more than that. They came to the table exactly as ordered.
Ambience of the place is your average sports bar but a bit more open and airy, TV’s everywhere. All in all a fabulous experience, would recommend after a long day touring the Yellowstone.
My husband went with the elk and clam pasta, and not only did it look incredible, but he said it was absolutely delicious. I had the black and blue salad, and it was perfection. A perfectly cooked medium flat iron steak sat on the freshest salad with very generous portions of toppings. The blue cheese was plentiful, the avocado was creamy, and even the cucumber tasted unbelievably fresh.
Our server, Brock, made the whole experience even better. He was very patient and attentive, and never once seemed rushed, even though he was serving a massive section of the restaurant.
We will definitely be recommending Hank’s Chop Shop to anyone visiting West Yellowstone!
Oh and the elk ravioli…. omg
I had the French dip which was amazing. The roast was perfectly medium rare and the horseradish sauce was incredible. The fries were fine but the onion rings were better. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich topped with French fried onions. Our server Gabrielle was wonderful and very attentive. With a terrific personality to boot.
I ordered the Chicken Wellington, but when it arrived, the chicken was visibly undercooked in the center. I politely asked the waitress to take a look, and she came over with an annoyed attitude and told us, “That’s the way how it’s cooked.” We explained that the chicken was clearly raw, especially because one of my friends ordered the same dish and his chicken was fully cooked and tasted fine.
After insisting, she finally said, “Okay, so what do you want me to do? Change into?” Then she took the plate away with a frustrated face.
A few minutes later, the replacement dish — Shrimp Alfredo — came, and shockingly, the shrimp were also undercooked. We cut the shrimp open and even had all four of my friends try it — the centers were translucent and clearly not fully cooked.
Additionally, when we first entered from the back door after parking, one of the servers told my friends (who are international visitors) to “just find a seat,” so they did — but we were then told we had to wait in line. Which is fine, but the first staff member didn’t explain anything about needing to wait, so it was confusing.
Maybe the restaurant was overwhelmed with customers, and I can understand that. But being busy should never be an excuse for rude service. The same server even said she had worked there for seven years and had “never seen anything like this.” Was she implying this situation was our fault? Even if we had different taste or expectations, she could’ve taken a minute to explain things nicely — not shut us down with “this is just how it is.”
We left feeling disrespected.
The food itself was okay, but the service was the real problem. It took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive, and we were treated like a burden instead of customers.
If you’re a visitor to Yellowstone and care about being treated with respect, I’d think twice before dining here.
We stayed about a block from This place and ate here 4 nights in 1 week. It was awesome every time! The bison filet was amazing. We tried all the burgers, both fish dishes, wings, French onion soup, a pizza, elk ravioli & chicken alfredo. We had a short wait for a table the first night. It was busy but we had great service. The last night we got take out. If you are in West Yellowstone, definitely give this place a try.
