Wonderful breakfast spot close proximity to Higgins Beach! We stopped by this morning after taking the dog to the beach.

The staff were quite friendly and helpful for two newbies. Limited menu items but the items on the menu were ALL amazingly good – so very much worth the stop!!

We ended up getting the breakfast sandwich and I added sausage (which was crispy but not dry – perfect for the sandwich), a breakfast burrito, and a cinnamon roll with a whipped cream cheese frosting. (See photos)

One thing I noticed was a lot of options for prepared meals! With the amount of vacation rentals in the area, this would be a perfect spot to grab go for dinner with the family while visiting!

When I walked in, it immediately reminded me of Bar Harbor — the kind of whimsical vibe you get from the inns and breakfast spots there. The location is great, tucked away and surrounded by nature. But it’s not just a breakfast and lunch spot; inside, they sell Maine-made goods, including spices, kitchen towels, and other little things made locally. They also have a fridge with grab-and-go options.

You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring the food to your table. Breakfast ends at 11am, then it switches to lunch with sandwiches, wraps, and baked goods. The sandwiches are delicious, but they’re on the pricier side at $14-$17, and the portions aren’t huge. That said, I feel like you’re paying for the vibe and location too, and at least the sandwiches come with tater tots (or a salad)! Coffee was really good, and they offer discounted refills. I also loved that they use local ingredients when possible, like in their the sourdough, which comes from Bread & Friends bakery in Portland. I had the turkey + arugula + fig jam sandwich and it was good, but they could really tone down the amount of arugula.

Two other things I appreciated: the indoor dining area is super spacious, and there’s plenty of parking.

Will I be back? Definitely, but I don’t think I’ll be a regular given the prices.

A go to breakfast (and lunch) spot! I love the breakfast here. It is consistently delicious. The bacon on the egg sandwich is always done crispy. I also enjoy the frozen / pre made food section. They change the items weekly, so there are a variety of options. The pastries are also good. The other day I had a cinnamon roll and it was not too sweet, perfectly done. They are also dog friendly in the outside seating section!

I love this place! It has a relaxed upscale vibe, and Sherry (manager) treats everyone with gracious hospitality. The staff are friendly and courteous. The menu is creative and everything we’ve had was well prepared and delicious. I especially recommend the veggie breakfast wrap (even better if you add bacon, IMO), the cucumber club, the salmon toast, and all of the baked goods – croissants, muffins, cookies, and even the ciabatta used in some of the sandwiches- just superb. Good coffee too. Love the decor, the outdoor seating options, fun kitchen gifts, and takeout meals for the fridge or freezer. Keep it up, Hank’s!

Great place for breakfast or lunch when staying in or around the Scarborough area. Great indoor outdoor seating situation with a big yard and games. Nice grab and go freezer section with some pantry items as well. For lunch, I ordered the kale salad with added goat cheese and my friend ordered the Turkey and Fig Jam as a wrap. The wrap was pretty light on the meat but otherwise good. Salad was also light on the quinoa and would add a protein if I were to order it again. Don’t skip the chocolate chip cookie!

Stopped here for lunch since there weren’t much places around the area. Got the Cubano sandwich for $17, came with some tots. Tastes good but not $17 good. Portion size was small but everything did come out hot. The store itself was pretty cool, I browsed around when I was waiting, I really like the premade food options in the refrigerator and local products in display.

We were visiting friends tha live in Scarbourgh, Me. We are from Phoenix,AZ. First time eating at Hanks. It is a ” gem ” in a tucked away location. One needs to know from locals. We sat outside or you can eat inside. My wife and I shared a larger tun melt sandwich Large portion. Purchased two large chocolate home made cookies– delicious. Highly recommend this place. When we went to pay for our meal Hank, owner takes your money and personally thanks you for dining there. Impressive.

Absolutely love this place! We are on vacation from Charleston SC and this is by far our favorite spot to eat at. Will be back here again. The food was fresh and the clam chowder is amazing.

Great spot for a casual lunch or breakfast! Super friendly staff, and some fantastic heat and eat choices available to take home. They also put on a stunner of an evening event. We used them recently for an event and they did such a great job with the food, service, and atmosphere!
