Great bakery with a good selection of items. Staff was friendly. I ordered a custard filled pastry, apple fritter and chocolate muffin. The apple fritter was lite and what I felt was the perfect amount of sweetness and apple. The chocolate muffin was moist and not heavy. Custard filled pastry just really hit the spot. Custard was creamy with a lite vanilla flavor. The 4 pastries were $9.75, well worth the price. Highly recommend.

Average goods and extremely slow service. This bakery has garnered many accolades but I’m not sure why. I ordered three raised donuts (glazed were dry, and had no flavor; chocolate iced was tasty but nothing special), and snickerdoodles whose flavor profile was flour, and again, pretty dry.

This bakery has received numerous accolades and positive reviews but I’m not sure why. The fried donuts taste greasy. I had a red velvet cake donut with cream cheese frosting and couldn’t taste any cream cheese. The wheat buns were dated the same day I visited, the raisin bread was dated the day of and day after my visit, so how long has it been on the shelf? The white chocolate raspberry scone had no flavor. The cookies were good. I debated even buying any bakery items after I saw a fly on a donut. I happened to notice on a sign there is a service fee for credit cards (not visibly posted), thankfully I had cash. Very disappointing.

Rated as a top 5 bakery in Minnesota several times pretty much says it all for Hanisch Bakery! It’s as good as advertised and then some. Tucked into a shop in downtown Red Wing, its location will take you back to the hood ol’ days.

Really nice bakery with a huge selection of treats ranging from cookies to donuts to danishes, breads, cakes, cake pops and even dog treats! (And more) Very friendly service. I highly appreciated that they were selling Pride-themed frosted cookies while we stopped by too! ️ Means a lot to see support for marginalized communities by local businesses. My family and I always stop here when we pass through Red Wing!

The pastries and donuts are magnificent and melt-in-your mouth tasty! No wonder its the best donuts in the state and everyone wants a bite!! The line though…can get so long, outside all the way down the sidewalk so plan. Worth it!
