Incredibly disappointed. Ordered a few options from this place based on other reviews. Online sandwiches look like a good amount of food. As you can see in the photo, you pretty much get one slice of each meat in the description. This was $13?
The place is located in a convenience store which isn’t really a problem, but it felt like I was in a gas station.
The service was what you would expect, but nothing to rave about. It quick service. The order was ready on time and everything was in my pickup order.
Only thing I can think of is maybe others order double meat or dine in for a better “hook up”. You must have to be hungover to enjoy these hoagies.

I LOVE the idea of this place having a sub shop in the liquor store. I got the third dui and my friend got the italian. It wasnt my favorite bread but the meats, veggies, and sauces they put on it were really good.

This is little hidden gem. Hiding in a liquor store. Hints the name huh? Lol good service. Potato salad and macaroni salad are subpar but the subs are huge. I mean huge. I got the roast beef with bacon and he got the turkey blt. Fresh meats. Filling. We got the 2 large subs, e bags chips potato salad and Mac salad for just under $40. For me that’s a great deal. Friendly welcoming service. Good looking tasty sandwiches with plenty of protein. I had the Third DUI and enjoyed all of the flavors that blended well together. The wheat bread was okay but I generally like mine to be more chewy and heavier. I’m not a fan of toasted sandwiches in general, I prefer mine grilled (probably more expensive) but this one was really good, probably the best toasted sandwich I’ve ever had. I can see why the sandwiches here would be good if you’re hungover – super easy to eat!

I came to this place last year and tried one of their sub’s and was hooked, well I just happened to be in the Tempe area and decided to go back and try a different sub for lunch, so I tried the 8″ Third Dui for $9.99+tax (The 16″ is $15.99+tax) it had….Turkey, genoa salami, capicolla, bacon, basil pesto, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo, oil & vinegar, oregano. It was pretty good!…If your in the area give ’em a try it’s in a convenient store called Sun Stop Liquor.

The best sandwich shop in Tempe
I have become a faithful patron of this small sandwich shop & liquor store in Tempe. I have sampled most of the menu and have enjoyed it every time. Located inside Sun Stop Liquor Store, Hangover Hoagies menu offers “Hammered Pastrami,” “Impaired Chicken,” “Drunken Philly,” & “Plastered Turkey BLT,” and much more. There are a few tables inside near the sandwich counter and much larger tables outside for diners. The entire establishment is kept immaculate. Even the outside tables are always clean. The food prep area is always clean. Heck, I’ve observed the employees washing their hands after returning from a cigarette break.
The liquor store side is also held to the same cleanliness standard. The liquor bottles are dusted regularly. I wouldn’t be able to detect how long inventory actually sits on the shelves here.
Sun Stop Liquor Store offers a plethora of distilled spirits, beers, mixers, and non-alcoholic beverages suitable for any budget. Perusing the aisles in this establishment can best be described as “The United Nations” of alcohol. So no matter what your national origin is I’m certain you’ll find your favorite hometown spirits on the shelves of this International Liquors store!
I appreciate the employees and management at this establishment very much. Each and every staff member are friendly and always in good spirits. I know my business is valued here just by the way I am consistently greeted. Their positive attitudes are the same at 10 a.m. as it is at 2 a.m., seven days a week!
