After our uneventful brunch down the road, our stomachs were still yearning for some tasty food and decided to try this sushi restaurant. The A5 wagyu nigiri looked appetizing on the Google pictures and recommended by waitress. The preparation appeared very promising. It was delicious and sauce was tasty. However, the wagyu didn’t melt in the mouth as an A5 wagyu should. Still more tender than ribeye and filet mignon though…4.5*.

Eight of us had dinner and we all enjoyed our meal. The diversity of the menu was very good with a broad enough selection to meet most diner’s needs. We found the presentation to be the best sushi serving aesthetic we have had frankly the food was as good to look at as it was to eat. While the service was not fast the speed was acceptable. Our group had two areas which they could work on: 1) the staff was a little clueless on what to serve young children, this of course will be an easy fix when they study the options. 2) the order taking and food delivery was a little bit disorganized. Both of these issues are minor and I would recommend this as the best Japanese food on the coast. We paid $56 per person but nobody ever said sushi is cheap.

The most important thing to good sushi is that the fish tastes fresh. The fish here is good. I am not sure why but often in this country the fish has a distinct fishy smell/taste. Very happy to find a place on the coast where this is not the case.

So happy this place opened! Easy parking and really nice dining experience overall. The miso soup and tempura vegetables were a great start. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a section of the menu for vegetarian sushi. The mochi ice cream was the cherry on top at the end. Will need to return for the green tea Japanese cheesecake since they had run out. Highly recommend checking this place out. It’s even open til 9:30… later than many places on the coast!

My experience is hit-and-miss food and service. Consistency brings customers back; marginal dishes should not leave the kitchen. The pork katsu had been microwaved and the ramen was way undercooked. Too nervous to try the sushi. Disappointing, take your chances.

Hangetsu was such a nice surprise. Friendly staff, chefs were amazing and the fish was so fresh. The presentation, taste and flavors are on point. Our favorite was the hamachi toro but everything we got was delicious. 5 stars well deserved.

There is outdoor seating at the back. So we are able to have a great meal, with our doggie around. The food and service are great too.

The place was clean and service was good but the food was okay. It really needed more flavor and they don’t give you a lot of sauce. I came with my husband , we spent $46 and left hungry.
