Solid sandwiches, fun bait-shop-themed vibes. Service is fast and laid back. House-brewed beer is good and available on tap or in cans. The Cuban and Club sandwiches aren’t game changers but are reliably cheesy/mustardy in the case of the Cuban and fresh and flavorful in the case of the Club. Really good potato salad as well

Nice relaxing “Old School Austin” vibe. Friendly folks, with good atmosphere. Got a tuna melt with potato salad. Sandwich was nicely grilled giving it a nice crunch to bite into, ingredients were fresh. Potato salad didnt taste like it came out of a carton.. homemade style with lots of flavor.. and I saved the best for last FRITO PIE!!! Just like the ones I use to get at a high-school football game… BUT BETTER!! Chili had a classic great flavor, but didnt taste or feel like you were eating the kind of chili that comes in a can.. cheese was queso style instead of grated cheese and the frito were SCOOPS unlike the traditional.. great way to collect all that goodness and much more enjoyable.. good call on the scoops. As shown in the pictures.. I enjoyed every bit of my meal.. Definitely be back to try other sandwiches!!

I had a disappointing food day, one of the worst in Austin. Places closed, rude owner that wouldn’t serve, a menu so underwhelming i went with a protein bar instead of breakfast and left.
Today for dinner i walked my dog to starlight but it was too busy for me to bring him in to order, looks great though! I’ll go back another time.
handsome dans is next door and was very quiet on a Friday night, walked in and was immediately greeted with a kind casual vibe.
They offered my dog a lil hot dog treat, gave suggestions on the menu when i asked and accommodated us well.
I haven’t received my food yet but im sure it will be good, these are the kind of guys that know what a good sandwich is.
Service, great.
Cost, great.
Atmosphere, great.
Outdoor seating and everything is clean.

Outstanding service; quick and friendly staff.
Plenty of seating at the bar or in a booth.

You HAVE to go here! I just had the best breakfast sandwich EVER! First off it’s a cool gem kinda tucked away. I love the space and they have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. My food was amazing!! It was just a basic egg and cheese muffin, but each ingredient had its own thing going on. The muffin was sweet yummy and fluffy, the eggs were just right, the sausage was flavorful and juicy, and the cheese was melted to perfection. I also think there was some sort of creamy spread with honey drizzled on it!!! Do yourself a favor and check this place out. The little touches are EVERYTHING! I will be back to go through the rest of the menu.

Handsome Dan’s lives up to it’s namesake bait shop title!! It’s that truly great, midwestern feel sandwich shop that you get before your day on the boat, the kind that keeps you going all day, and keeps you coming back for more! After saying “we need to go there” at least 30 times, we finally went there and boyyy howdy it did not disappoint! The Cuban and club were 10/10 perfect! The bread was so fresh, crispy where it needed to be, and buttery in all the right places. It was a perfectly balanced sandwich ratio, not too thick, not too thin, and came with chips or potato salad. The in-house beer is great, and there’s something for anyone’s tastes, plus non alcoholic options.
We sat outside with our pups on the dog friendly patio, which is fully covered and shaded, with tons of great seating options.
I recommend going into the shop and seeing every thing they have to offer that isn’t listed on the menu, plus the GREAT beer tap and can selections they have in store!

You guys are awesome, I popped in after a 20 mile bike ride with the homies and Elijah and his team made us feel so welcome. first and foremost they have Pacifico on tap, and their in-house michelada mix is top notch and definitely unique. I also had the feb special sandwich the Torta, which was delicious, I even got some merch because of how great my experience was with these guys. It was my first time to visit, the vibe and the atmosphere were perfect so I will definitely be coming back.

A friend brought me take out from them once and it was very good. I can make a decent sandwich for myself but these guys turned a hot turkey sandwich into a delicious treat that I’m eager to have again. I’d buy their bread if anyone sold it. Reasonable prices in this era of Trumpflation. I don’t think they’ve been in business very long but I’m rooting for them to do well.
Unlike a lot of Austin restaurants, they have a decent amount of parking except whenever the event space they share a parking lot with has an event scheduled. Handsome Dan’s location is easy to miss. You have to walk past Stargazer Coffee to find them. I strongly recommend their hot Turkey sandwich but not their Turkey Club. The Bacon they use is not good.
