I hope South Bend continues supporting this new restaurant. I love Korean food, and this place is also great for friends who want less spice, as it offers both entrees and banchan (side dishes) in some milder versions but still with delicious flavor. They also have a nice variety of banchan and appetizers, different than some other restaurants have, making it a fun experience; I love trying new dishes.

I absolutely will have the mackerel again as it was well seasoned. I usually order gimbap I can’t easily make at home. Their fried gimbap has a sweeter, fluffier coating than Japanese rolls. It was fun to try and made delicious leftovers. Portions were generous; we split our meal between two people and took a bit home.

I removed one star from atmosphere because it being a former fast food building is obvious, needs a bit of work outside and at that former cashier area, but they have added nice touches such as sparkly ceiling decorations, and I love the small library. This is a great place for family meals.

And finally, the service was fantastic. Our server was friendly, helpful, and patient when I asked questions. He even gave me a couple extras as I mentioned I like pickled vegetables (the takeout cups in the photo). He made our first experience there a delight.

I loved this place. It’s not glamorous inside, but they’ve turned an old Penguin Point into a really cozy space. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. We had the beef bulgogi and chicken teriyaki dinners. Tons of food. I had really missed good Korean since Sunny’s in Mishawaka closed down, and this definitely hit the spot.

Was mid. Overall tasty. Seafood pancake was real tasty though. Seafood noodle soup was ok. Bulgogi kim bop a bit dry. Service was great! They might want to remove the remaining penguin point signage .

My husband and I got the Bibimbop and bulgogi kimpi. Forgive my spelling. We don’t eat Korean often and I can’t find what we ordered in print anywhere. Their menu is not on their website and the images of it on Facebook and Instagram don’t really zoom in and are nearly impossible to read on a phone. However, the food was very good. Tasted fresh. Service was good. Atmosphere—felt like a takeout Chinese place. Used to be a Wendy’s. Anyway, I appreciate their being open on Christmas Eve.

Amazing Korean restaurant in the South Bend area! My family and I tried the black bean noodles (jajangmyeon), Korean style ramen, Korean style fried chicken (dak gang jeong), takoyaki, and japchae. My favorite out of the choices were the fried chicken and japchae. Authentic and amazing flavor to the dishes. Prices are incredibly reasonable for the portion sizes, they’re huge! They have lunch specials for $14 on the week days. Or even to go boxes if you need something quick. The owner is a kind Korean gentleman. Please come out to support this small business, it is worth the drive!! I will be returning back here whenever I’m craving Korean food

We tried Hancook for the first time tonight and everything was incredible! The food was flavorful and fresh, and our server was kind and beyond helpful. The space felt warm and inviting, too. We already can’t wait to go back for round two.

Food is made fresh to order! I have had a few dishes and new to Korean cuisine and I must say, I am a fan! Once they get accustomed to the building, they will make all changes needed, but if you want some great Korean food, it’s a must try! You pay for what you get and prices are reasonable! They even have lunch specials!

Such good food! As a person who loves Korean food— this place is definitely is up there. We tried japchae, Korean style fried chicken, takoyaki, Korean style ramen, and jajangmyun. The japchae was extremely flavorful, great texture, and probably the best I’ve had since living here. The Korea style friend chicken is a MUST try— amazing sweet and spicy taste. Takoyaki is reminiscent of authentic Japanese style, and since traveling to Japan myself, I can attest to that. Probably wouldn’t recommend jajangmyun or Korean ramen— just a little bland. The owner is so extremely sweet and the proportions are very plentiful for the price. Highly recommend!!

Got Tuna & BulGoGie GimBap, KimChi JiGae(stew) & SoonDuBu JiGae(stew). They were pretty good and could tell they were freshly made — even the side dishes that came with it. Approved by Koreans who just arrived from Korea about two weeks ago. Very good service as well. Highly recommend it!

I had been meaning to try this place for a little while now, but I finally went in. It was really good. The people were great and the food was really good. We did the Korean Fried Chicken wings. Really good. We were able to try a few sauces. I did the soy garlic and the sweet and spicy. Both were really good. The only thing that was less then amazing was that they sold beverages by the can. It seems like they are getting the place off the ground and building a customer base, so I can’t fault them on not having a fountain machine. I hope they are successful and look forward to trying some of their other offerings.
