Introduced a friend to Hanayuki this evening. This place has been my longtime favourite for a reason. The food is amazing & the menu is very well priced given that the portions are HUGE!
There were only 2 of us this evening, but we ordered enough food to easily feed 4! I wanted my friend to experience a varied selection from the menu, so we over-ordered quite a bit. But that just meant take-home leftovers for tomorrow, no complaints there.
We began with a selection of appys:
– Agedashi Avo — deep fried avocado may seem odd, but trust me, it’s delish!
– Chicken Karaage — excellent batter to meat ratio, tasty, extremely generous portion!
– Pork Gyoza – fried dumplings, what’s not to like? Happy dance!
– Stuffed Jalapeño Poppers (deep fried jalapeño stuffed with spicy tuna & cream cheese) — this is a FAVOURITE, I order it every time! ️
Then we shared a couple Special Rolls:
– Popcorn Roll (spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, sweet chili sauce, inside: cucumber, avocado. 2 pc prawn tempura, crabmeat, top: deep fried scallops, yam crunch, potato crunch) — insanely HUGE portion, this “roll” alone could be a full meal! The roll is very yummy, but the scallops are the STAR!
– Ring of Fire Roll (cream cheese sauce, spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, inside: avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, 2 pc prawn tempura, top: spicy crabmeat, tempura crumb) — so much decadent NOM!

Great food and prices. The bento boxes are a great deal, especially the chicken teriyaki bento. Also the sashimi is excellent quality, not fishy and very delicious.
Katsudon is HUGE, such great value.
Angry bird roll is a meal in itself (but at $20 it better be worth it).
1st time trying the bacon dynamite roll, was better than I expected and I would order it again.
Tiger roll was good but nothing special.
Hamachi sashimi was delicious.
This place is all about the value.

Very satisfying experience. Setting, interior designing, and ambiance were nice. Food was Excellent, good portion sizes, and very delicious. Staff was friendly and polite, and delivered a fast enough service.
Prices are reasonable.
Can recommend this place!!
Only issue is, place is not that big, so tables may be all filled up by the time one arrives, if it’s a busy time. Reserving ahead is recommended.

I had angry bird rolls and it was delicious and fulfilling, satisfied my taste buds and my stomach. The service was great as well. Their sushi menu is creative and authentic I’d say it’s the Best sushi place in Port Moody so far

Can’t believe my husband and I have been in Port Moody for a while and never tried this place. We will definitely be coming back sooner than later!

He got the jalapeño bomb roll, yam tempura roll, and toro nigiri (had to give compliments on that specifically); and I got the spicy vegetable roll and spicy vegetable yaki udon.
Even though I know what I’m doing to myself going to a sushi restaurant as a vegetarian, I was elated that they had more options than usual. In fact, they had a ton.

Food presented nicely. Taste good too. We came in early 11am, random servers .mostly fast and pleasant except for one young server who took our order seems not in the mood ✌ service with a smile to brighten up the mood would be nice

We recently visited this this restaurant and had a fantastic experience. We ordered sushi, and every piece was beautifully presented and made with incredibly fresh ingredients. The flavors were balanced, and the sauces paired perfectly with each roll. The menu was creative, with fun and unique names for each item, which made ordering even more enjoyable. The staff was professional, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit.

Ate here for the first time ever tonight and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was so polite and fast, right from the door everyone was friendly and welcoming. Most of all though, the food was amazing! The portions are huge for the cost and so delicious. Especially the cowboy roll I could eat it everyday and never get tired of it. I will be back and with everyone I know.

We used to love coming here and it was one of our regular spots. Unfortunately, over the past few months the quality has clearly declined. The food doesn’t taste as fresh as it used to, and the floors were very sticky and in serious need of a deep cleaning. The waiters and waitresses are not friendly there. So disappointing because this place used to be great. I hope management addresses these issues soon.
