We came here to celebrate by daughters 18th birthday. She is on the spectrum and picked this location. They were super nice and accommodating. They made her feel so comfortable and welcomed.

The food was fantastic and everyone found something to eat they would like. I cannot eat seaweed and they do have soy wrap for this sushi. Double win!! They also gave her a birthday surprise so we could sing happy birthday. We will definitely be back!!

A beautiful restaurant in Carmel City Center. We came here before enjoying a wonderful show at the concert hall next door. The service was friendly and quick. The seaweed salad was one of the best I’ve had with a nutty and citrusy flavor. The gyoza were flavorful and had lots of filling. The spicy tuna roll was spectacular. The entrees we had is where the experience fell a little flat. The hibachi meal had a sauce that was overly sweet. The Japanese curry was tasty, but the pork cutlet was undercooked and not warm. The pad Thai was delicious and was one of the best entrees we had.

Overall I would recommend this place for sushi, but not for their other entrees.

I’ve been to Hanami a few times, but my last experience left a sour taste in my mouth. My partner can’t have gluten and we love the variety of gluten free options Hanami offers, so we booked a Valentine’s Day reservation at Hanami about 2 weeks out. I got a call from Hanami a few days before Valentine’s Day saying they overbooked and needed to move my reservation. They moved it back an hour and 45 minutes, but told me they’d put it in the system to give me 10% off my bill. When we arrived at the time of our reservation, there was a long line of others who also had reservations and were still waiting for a table. We waited for over 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated, and they had no queue system or any way to tell what time your original reservation was or what time you checked in. It was a free for all to get the hostess’ attention and get the next free table. I did witness customers treating the hostess extremely rudely, but she handled it very well. You could tell all of the staff was stressed and frustrated, but they were still very kind. When we finally got sat we noticed there was a smaller menu than the normal menu, and this one had no gluten free options listed, which was the whole reason we came. We told the waiter about the dietary restriction and he brought the full menu, again the staff was doing an incredible job. At the end of the meal when we paid and got back our check, not only was the 10% discount not applied, but I was charged $25 for each hibachi when I’m fairly sure the menu said $20 for hibachi. Instead of given a discount, I was overcharged. The staff already seemed incredibly stressed, so I just let it go.

Summary of our experience with Hanami: Great options, good food, friendly staff, but the absolutely abysmal management of this place drags it down. If I were the management here I would be embarrassed.

Hanami Sushi and Sake Bar delivers the kind of calm, softly glowing atmosphere that makes you forget you’re sitting ten feet from a parking lot. The space is clean, modern, and welcoming, and the staff greets you like they’re genuinely happy you came in.

The sushi is the star here. Fresh fish, clean cuts, and good portion sizes. The rolls are well-balanced without falling into the “too much sauce” trap that some places lean on. The nigiri is especially solid — a simple, honest showcase of quality. The sake list is thoughtful without being overwhelming, and the staff can actually explain what you’re ordering, which is always a plus.

A few notes that keep this from being a full five stars: some dishes can be a touch inconsistent between visits, and during busy hours the pace can slow down. Nothing dramatic, just the kind of wait where you start wondering whether you should have grabbed one more appetizer.

Still, Hanami is an easy place to recommend. Whether you’re dropping in for a quiet dinner or grabbing a casual sushi fix, it’s a clean, friendly spot with flavors that actually show some care. I’ll definitely be back.

Fantastic meal and great atmosphere at Hanami
Sushi & Sake Bar!
We ordered the King of the Sea and Hanami Tower sushi rolls, and both were outstanding — super fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You can really tell the chefs take pride in their work. For the main dish, we had the Tonkotsu Ramen, and it was amazing — rich, flavorful broth with perfectly cooked noodles and toppings. The service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant has a comfortable, modern vibe that made the whole experience even better. It’s rare to find a spot that nails both the food and the experience, but Hanami does it effortlessly.
Whether it’s date night or a dinner with friends, this place is easily one of Carmel’s best.

The green tea was the best part of the dinner.
We want to come back to try sushi and hopefully we will get a better experience.
The appetizer: Shumai was normal
Good, the wasabi version was not too spicy.

The Soi ramen was ok, didn’t really taste Japanese. The pad Thai maybe was not the best choice at the Japanese restaurant, but my son usually likes it and we wanted some sort of noodles for dinner.
He ate it all, but left the chicken on the plate, he said didn’t like it.
The real disappointment was the Yakisoba, it looked like coming from the frozen section…

The atmosphere is very nice and the waitress was young and very sweet.

The problem with service was that , when they walked us at the table it was all wet and also the floor and the seat. Somebody probably poured a glass and it wasn’t cleaned very well.

We want to come back to try the sushi. Maybe going to eat ramen and noodles was not the best idea.

I would love to consider my 13 year old an expert sushi connoisseur, as it is not only his favorite food but also a delicacy he’s enjoyed all over the world! This is now highlighted as his #1 sushi spot. And it’s rare these days to find a restaurant both so cute but also so delicious and that a family of 4 can actually afford.
Everything from the crab ragoons, the seafood tower to the teriyaki chicken were impeccable!
We live 2 hours away unfortunately but I for see us coming back to dine again! If every in Carmel Indiana do not miss your opportunity to be dazzled by this sushi spot!
