The food was fantastic and everyone found something to eat they would like. I cannot eat seaweed and they do have soy wrap for this sushi. Double win!! They also gave her a birthday surprise so we could sing happy birthday. We will definitely be back!!
Overall I would recommend this place for sushi, but not for their other entrees.
Summary of our experience with Hanami: Great options, good food, friendly staff, but the absolutely abysmal management of this place drags it down. If I were the management here I would be embarrassed.
The sushi is the star here. Fresh fish, clean cuts, and good portion sizes. The rolls are well-balanced without falling into the “too much sauce” trap that some places lean on. The nigiri is especially solid — a simple, honest showcase of quality. The sake list is thoughtful without being overwhelming, and the staff can actually explain what you’re ordering, which is always a plus.
A few notes that keep this from being a full five stars: some dishes can be a touch inconsistent between visits, and during busy hours the pace can slow down. Nothing dramatic, just the kind of wait where you start wondering whether you should have grabbed one more appetizer.
Still, Hanami is an easy place to recommend. Whether you’re dropping in for a quiet dinner or grabbing a casual sushi fix, it’s a clean, friendly spot with flavors that actually show some care. I’ll definitely be back.
Sushi & Sake Bar!
We ordered the King of the Sea and Hanami Tower sushi rolls, and both were outstanding — super fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You can really tell the chefs take pride in their work. For the main dish, we had the Tonkotsu Ramen, and it was amazing — rich, flavorful broth with perfectly cooked noodles and toppings. The service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant has a comfortable, modern vibe that made the whole experience even better. It’s rare to find a spot that nails both the food and the experience, but Hanami does it effortlessly.
Whether it’s date night or a dinner with friends, this place is easily one of Carmel’s best.
We want to come back to try sushi and hopefully we will get a better experience.
The appetizer: Shumai was normal
Good, the wasabi version was not too spicy.
The Soi ramen was ok, didn’t really taste Japanese. The pad Thai maybe was not the best choice at the Japanese restaurant, but my son usually likes it and we wanted some sort of noodles for dinner.
He ate it all, but left the chicken on the plate, he said didn’t like it.
The real disappointment was the Yakisoba, it looked like coming from the frozen section…
The atmosphere is very nice and the waitress was young and very sweet.
The problem with service was that , when they walked us at the table it was all wet and also the floor and the seat. Somebody probably poured a glass and it wasn’t cleaned very well.
We want to come back to try the sushi. Maybe going to eat ramen and noodles was not the best idea.
Everything from the crab ragoons, the seafood tower to the teriyaki chicken were impeccable!
We live 2 hours away unfortunately but I for see us coming back to dine again! If every in Carmel Indiana do not miss your opportunity to be dazzled by this sushi spot!
