Hanabi in Berlin-Neukölln is not a fancy place, but it’s a genuine hotspot for fans of authentic Japanese cuisine. You instantly feel transported to a Tokyo alley, not least because you are served directly by Japanese staff—that’s the real deal!
The food is super tasty (a true flavor explosion!), and the portions are more than fair, especially considering the very fair prices. Whether you’re slurping down the ramen or enjoying the sushi, everything tastes like craftsmanship and fresh ingredients.
A crucial heads-up: This place gets packed in the evening. Reservation is key if you want to secure a seat—trying to walk in spontaneously is usually tough. However, the wait is definitely worth it.
If you are looking for honest, authentic Japanese food in Neukölln that won’t break the bank, this is your perfect spot. Highly recommended!

I think this is one the most authentic japanese restaurants in Berlin. We travelled 2 hours just to try it out. My Japanese friend recommends it to me. The source of the ramen is amazing, it’s so light and I could drank all the soup. I tried the Nirigis and they are super tasty and fresh. It’s a pity that it’s so far away from Berlin Mitte. I really hope that you will be so successful that you open another shop in Berlin Mitte

Without a doubt, it’s the best in Berlin. We tried various kinds of sushi, a sashimi plate, Karaage, and concluded with Udon. The dishes were consistently excellent, and the Udon surpassed our expectations. It was definitely the highlight of their menu. The Cosy and authentic interior, along with the nice service, added to the experience.

Cozy Japanese-owned restaurant in south Neukölln. Simple decor and very charming. Simple, classic and comprehensive menu. Well-prepared ingredients ! Nice attention to detail (see spring onions and generous bonito flakes). It was quite nostalgic for me to visit a Japanese restaurant of this style – you can tell it’s been in the game for a while.

Just one note for our ebi tempura: I would put it on the side to the udon so the crunch remains

Some vegetarian options but the main dishes (not sushi) are all meat-based.

Good, authentic but not exceptional Japanese food. Also offers the usual style of westernised sushi. I would recommend to stick to the Japanese dishes.

Small and cozy sushi place with delicious food located in a quiet zone with plenty of free parking spots.
Prices are neither cheap nor too expensive; let’s say within the average in terms of sushi places around Berlin.
Staff is friendly and brought some candies to our children.
Definitively a pace I can recommend to all the sushi lovers out there
