Not your typical burger joint—this place clearly stands out! The chef takes real pride in crafting high-quality, inventive, and absolutely delicious burgers (and now hotdogs too!). Make sure to save room for one of their milkshakes—they go way beyond the usual chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla, often featuring local, seasonal flavors and fresh fruits. Last time I was there, they had a fig milkshake on the menu, and I’m still kicking myself for not trying it.

This was an accidental find where we were drawn in by the aroma coming through the doors. The atmosphere is really not there but is a quaint, very clean, and friend location. Dining area is limited but some tables and chairs are on the sidewalk just out the door close by.
We always split a John Wayne burger and large order of Onion Rings. Both are the best we have ever eaten anywhere in a somewhat fast food restaurant. You order at the counter and pick it up taking it to go or to a table.
Be prepared…the cost is high but the drawback…at these higher prices, is not being more than quaint with some kind of personal service…missing that, it is overpriced.
However, as a treat, the splurge is worth it. If two eat a hamburger (split), onion rings and two soda drinks, with sometimes fries, expect to pay about $30 plus. Still we return every few months. We know limited seating is there so we take what is needed and dine in our car.
The one thing we liked in addition to the food is it appears to be a family run business and they visually work hard and well together. It’s a happy place to eat.

My wife and I just ate here for her birthday. She had a cheeseburger and fries (with thousand island and ranch dipping sauces) and a small peanut butter shake. I had a wedge salad with bacon and double chicken (and blue cheese dressing). All of the good was great. My wife is a burger connoisseur, and this checked all the boxes for her. My salad was generously sized (salads are sometimes an afterthought at burger joints) and ALL of the sauces were delicious and house made. Glad we came and will totally be back for more.

First I want to say that I had ordered their loaded fries last week and they were amazing. So I decided to actually try their burgers and ordered them for my whole family for a Sunday night dinner. After waiting almost an hour for my food, I was very disappointed. We ordered veggie patties that were an added $2 each that looked like hockey pucks. When we unwrapped them, the condiments we had ordered on them were minimal. I ended up throwing away 3 of them because we couldn’t choke them down they were so dry (Even with the shakes as a chaser). I tried to call because something was missing and I couldn’t get them to answer the phone. There are better places to eat on the island for a $70 meal. I will not be returning. 🙁

This is not in the downtown area so it wasn’t as busy as all of the restaurants over there. We were able to find a table easily and had a good lunch.

Just had one of Hammy’s new hot dog specials, The South Ender. Right from the first bite, you know this isn’t your average street dog. The hot dog itself was juicy with just the right snap, but it’s the toppings that make it stand out. Packed with Southern-inspired flavors like pimento cheese, tangy house sauce and candied jalapenos, it lives up to the name in the best possible way. The bun holds it all together surprisingly well, and it’s toasted just right. If you’re a fan of hotdogs that go way beyond ketchup and mustard, The South Ender is a must-try. Bring napkins and an appetite.

Ok, under new ownership, but they are asking for reviews so here you go.
Been to Hammys many times.
Might be my imagination but buns for a single cheeseburger are larger or meat patty is smaller, either way, more bread than meat.
Fries, good but not as crispy as in the past.
So hopefully new owners (not to be seen on my visit) will turn this into a great burger place!

Whew ok. Let me start off and say this is one of two places open on a Monday.
Burgers and fríes, expected the standard and left with a $50 bill for a burger ( with no side) Tyson chicken strips, onion rings, a soda, and a shake.
The burger was not very good, I didn’t eat the chicken strips as they are quite literally mashed breaded chicken and was charged $2 for a side of blue cheese, $2 to upgrade to pre frozen onion rings. HUGE disappointment to say the least. Medium soda is $3.50, the chicken strips basket was $13. They must be making big money since a bag of fake frozen chicken is $7 at target for 2lbs.
The only saving grace was the nice friendly staff but it still wasn’t worth a $50 meal that was WORSE than McDonald’s. Save your money and buy frozen meals across the street for 1/2 the price. It’s quite literally the same thing and you won’t be disappointed.

Food is ok but not for the price. Biggest gripe why does not one staff member speak English? Why are they blasting Mexican music in an American burger joint? English is our national language so why do I have to play pictionary to get service. It’s ridiculous
