I brought my sons to have lunch here- a place I used to come to as a little girl when my great-grandparents were alive and well and lived on Gladys.
The place looks the same on the inside as it did when I was little. Obviously dated and well-loved, but you can also tell it’s still a neighborhood gem.
Upon entering, we were told to find a seat. The prices were very inexpensive and were very much to the point. No frills necessary. We ordered the double cheeseburgers and enchilada plate. My boys fell in love with their burgers, and my enchiladas were surprisingly tasty. I’m always so skeptical about ordering enchiladas from places because many use canned sauce and canned beans to which I am not a fan of. Especially because both are so very easy to make from scratch.
Fast forward a week, and we’re back for lunch. Again my boys order the double cheeseburgers, and I get the tacos de deshebrada. The tables now have a tablecover on them and the menus are newly printed, and laminated! Completely different from the week before. I also notice that the prices were higher too. I brought it to the waitress’s attention and she said yeah, they upped the prices. So, instead of the $6.90 we paid for the double cheeseburgers the previous week, they were now $8.50. Which is still pretty affordable.. but just keep in mind that the fries are sold separately. ($4.95) The drinks are free refills though, so that’s a plus if you order sodas. I ordered a water, and was fine. Wait staff are friendly, just call them over if you do need a refill, because they don’t go around to the bigger tables in the back very often. When you visit, try to bring cash, because the price is cheaper if you don’t pay with card.
Also, to walk off the food you just enjoyed, there’s a cute little grocery shop on the corner of the little plaza next door. They have an old-school Slush Puppy machine! It took me way back to my younger years!

When my family and I recently ate here, the atmosphere was DISGUSTING and FILTHY. We were seated next to a window, the windowsill was dusty, moldy, and just gross with layers of sticky grease. The table felt a bit sticky as well. Our waitress also had an attitude (she seemed slighty annoyed we were there). The food was okay, the “Chicos” style flautas sauce tasted very off, like vinegar. Also, the bathroom had TONS of mold. SO PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE I BEG !!!!!!

Best Hamburgers in El Paso, try the Super Burger, you won’t be disappointed. If you want the best service sit at the bar, the cooks are always nice and friendly. Menudo is also good, prices are cheap. Open 24 Hours!! I have been coming here for over 10 years. Don’t forget to add green salsa to everything!

I walked in and noticed dead flies on the windowsill. I went to the cashier and noticed the cook wasnt using any gloves will touching the hamburger meat. He then proceeds to to wipe his face and scratch his stomach and then go back to handling all the food with his hands. Left instantly ! I will be reporting to an inspector .

It’s as iconic as it’s historical. If you want to feel the deep roots of the lower valley come here. The menudo was good ( my father disagrees) but the ambiance/nostalgia is off the charts.

GRUBHUB HAVE SENT ME TWO ORDERS ONLY TO CANCEL WHEN I ARRIVE…. THIS IS WHY I GAVE TWO STARS… IF THE RESTAURANT IS CLOSED WHY ARE PEOPLE PLACING ORDERS BEFORE IT OPENS??? THANKS FOR POSTING THE HOURS.
