Truly the worst food I’ve ever had fry’s are hard like they have been a siting there all day asked for a plain cheese burger they put everything on it asked for chicken pita gave me a chicken sandwich burger is raw!!!!!!!manager was talking down on his employees say they didn’t know anything instead of talking down on you’re employees you should be teaching them .dont waste you’re money going here take you’re money elsewhere

From the moment you enter, the smell of the food cooking on the flat top grill lets you know that you’re in for a treat. The workers were very happy and cheerful, and the cashier was wholesome. The fries were salty, fresh and very delicious. Cheesburger was excellent with fresh ingredients. Hot dog was also really good. Everything seems to be made with love here. The only criticism i could give is use a bit less salt in the potato bacon soup, which was also home made and really tasty! This is one of the best fast food places around the area. Definitely will be back when the hunger strikes.

This was honestly the biggest waste of $22 I’ve ever made in food. I’ve eaten in some sketchy places as a Chicagoan and a food lover, however out of all my terrible experiences, this place takes the cake. Let me walk you through what I ordered and then you can see the photos for reference…
Hot dog w/ mustard and onion – let me first start by saying, that a place named halsted street dogs should take pride in their hotdogs. This was the most disgusting, dry, shriveled up hotdog I’ve ever attempted to eat. This hotdog has obviously been sitting out for the last few hours and in comparison to the bun, was a pencil. This thin and grotesque hotdog was accompanied by old dried out onions and the finest thin line of mustard. I could even taste the mustard. The bun was probably the best part of the single bite I could manage to swallow. I couldn’t eat it and threw it away.
The Gyro Plate – I don’t even know where to start with this one. First let me note that the meat I was given, as seen in the photos, was obviously frozen and warmed up. This poor quality meet was then cooked with some sort of oil or fat, because every piece was dripping with a thick slimy substance. When you order a Gyro plate, you usually have the tomato’s, onion, feta cheese and taziki sauce to the side. There was no cheese and the sauce was just dropped as a little dollop on top. The onions again the same as the hot dog, old and dried out. The mound of meat was also dropped on top of the SINGLE pita bread given to me. This single bread is pictured as well, covered in the shiny oily slimy substance, which made the bread drip and wet throughout. I tried to make the single sandwich and quite literally threw up half way through attempting to eat this. Mostly due to the fact I spent $22 on a whole dinner I could not eat.
Finally, the fries I received, to no surprise were mediocre and were wet and soggy and had no salt or flavor. Of course they were also cold, but at this point in the meal I couldn’t be less shocked.
To top all of this off, I was given two thin tiny napkins for this oily catastrophe, which at this point felt like insult to injury.
For the business owner to allow this kind of food to come out of their kitchen is honestly baffling to me. This food is going to get someone sick or seriously hurt someone. The customer service was bland and I wasn’t welcomed or thanked during my transaction. The staff seemed to be almost held against their will. While tables were clean and floors appeared mopped, it doesn’t surprise me as this restaurant is always empty with dim lights lit at night. This was my first and last time trying halsted street dogs and I will continue to drive past it daily wondering when the doors will close.
Overall, would not recommend and I can not believe someone who served this food and charge these prices. Do not waste your money here.

I ordered a Polish sausage and a grilled chicken Caesar wrap… As you can tell from the picture of the Polish, it was pretty much not edible… It appears that they take their sausages and deep fry them in the french fry oil before serving them. Please see the picture and you could be the judge.. I took half a bite and spit it out immediately…
With regards to the grilled chicken Caesar wrap that I ordered if you look at the description on their menu, it does not say that it has tomatoes. Needless to say when I got my wrap, it was loaded with tomatoes. I didn’t think this would be an issue since it wasn’t in the description, but it was!
Finally over by the soda machine in the washrooms, there was a ton of ants on the floor as well. Just kind of topped off the whole poor experience!
Overall, not a very pleasant experience and I definitely would not go back!

I’ve visited this place 3 different times to try different items. First, I want to say that service is always excellent. The staff is very welcoming and nice. The diner is always neat and clean. However, the food just isn’t the best to me. The gyros sandwich was pretty good, but not the best. I actually think another restaurant nearby has a much better gyros, so I wouldn’t go back for this item. I also tried the cheeseburger. The cheeseburger was just ok. It’s a standard patty that most restaurants use, nothing notable or outstanding. Lastly, I tried the Italian beef. The meat seems like decent quality but I’m not a fan of the gravy at all. I haven’t tried the fries which other reviews noted that they are great. However, I didn’t agree with most of the other reviews that said the gyros and beef were the best. If I was passing by and hungry, I would stop here and grab something simply based off of the service and the food being not bad. However, I would never go out of my way to go here for food. For those who haven’t given this place a try I would say go for it because honestly everyone’s taste is different. It’s not for me but you may love it.

I must say by far their customer service skills were Amazin,they were friendly and accommodating. However as I read the other reviews these folks CAN NOT be from Chicago,the food was horrible! At first I ordered the chicken wings,I thought they came as a whole chicken wing but instead chicken parts. They were gooey so I took them back inside because I didn’t pull off yet,the manager allowed me to swap out to get a chicken gyro. I attached the picture, the meat was HORRIBLE im uncertain what type of meat it was,they opened a drawer full of meat and place it on the grill. The french fries was amazin,I would not recommend this place for food! It was DEFINITELY a waste of money
