Amazing bar and perfect addition to a Halloween trip. The cocktails were delicious and the bar staff were lovely.
We visited two times – the first time was the day before Halloween, shortly after it opened and it was considerably quieter and we were able to enjoy the ambience and environment more. We visited again later that evening when there was a DJ playing – this time was much busier. Recommendation for visiting during peek holidays: Id recommend visiting a little earlier if you want to enjoy the ambience of the bar.

Hands down our favorite find in Salem!! 50 cent wing deal on Wednesdays and open mic comedy… unmatched. Food and drinks were great. The service was spot on as well. I believe the bartenders were both Sean. Definitely recommend!

Small “secret” spot in an alley. Its connected to dire wolf so if you know to head downstairs you’ll find the speakeasy. We came in the middle of the afternoon when it just opened so no one was there. A few people came in shortly after. They are fancier drinks and the price shows it. The ladies making our drinks were great.. I didnt enjoy their recommendations though but Im certainly not an expert.

My boyfriend and I started visiting Salem around 2-3 years ago, when we turned 21 we tried this place out! Every time we visit we usually stay for 3 nights total. We LOVE this place so much that every night after dinner we come here for more drinks!!! I’ll never forget coming here for the 1st time when we were finally 21. Every year when we come to Salem I look forward to coming here so much!! Highly recommend for after dinner drinks to elevate your night!

You absolutely have to come here if you love the speakeasy vibe with amazing cocktails. Sean is a master of cocktails! The food was really delicious too – sushi, chicken pot pie and chicken bites.

Hallowed Ground is an underground treasure. Located in the basement of Dire Wolf, it’s one of Salem’s hidden gems. The atmosphere is like modern speakeasy. The food is #1 awesome. Their 50 cent wings are so yummy. The drinks are sinfully wonderful. You’ll find Stand up Comedy and Drag Shows an absolute blast. This is definitely a place to check out when in town.

Has a fun vibe! The manager on duty was so friendly. He shared his thoughts on various cocktails and created several delicious drinks. He also made recommendations on what speakeasies to visit in Boston.

What a great hidden bar! The entrance to Hallowed Ground is available both outside in the alley, as well as inside through Dire Wolf Tavern. We were able to snag spots at the bar and had an incredible time sipping themed cocktails and enjoying surprisingly good snacks. The bartender was also top notch – managing all the patrons but helpful with suggestions and making conversation. Absolutely would come back next time I’m in Salem.

Cool spot. Bartender was welcoming and knowledgeable. Drinks on the menu are delicious but it is definitely worth it to go off script as well.

Live music and drinks were GREAT at this place. I thought the service was fantastic at this speakeasy until we started to leave the establishment (after we had paid and tipped.) My friend noticed the servers looking/speaking about us. Right as we walked out, the bartender asked “Where are you guys from again?” And when we were responding, she cut us off and said “VISITORS!” We didn’t appreciate the tone or the question. Made us feel unwelcome.
