About 2 blocks over the Canadian border sits Hallett Brewing. It was music trivia night and I was able to team up with some great guys.
The owner was bar tending and he also makes the beer. The Swiss ale was delicious, as were the rest. The hidden gem was the pickled baby squash. I could’ve eaten a couple jars. I forget the name of the bread dish but it was really good too.

The best thing to happen in Fort Frances in years! Andrew and Tanya have turned their vision into reality (sorry for the Optometry pun, I can’t help it).
Great beer, great food, great service. My favorite is the ‘House Blonde’. The bannock and beer cheese was excellent as well.
Calling it now…. I will be a regular’.

My husband and I happened to spot Hallett Brewing as we were driving through Fort Francis on a day trip across the border from MN. We were met with the owners, Andrew and Tanya, and thoroughly enjoyed the beer and the company. The grapefruit beer was our favorite! We could tell that a lot of thought and detail went into the design of the taproom as well. We will be sure to make this a stop again in the future when we are up this way!

Sampled a refreshingly dry saison. Liked it so much, I got one to go. Canned from the tap right in front me. Worth the trip!

Great little brewery, extremely responsive when contacted via Facebook. Lowish number of beers, but great range. 4 in a flight each costing around $4.50. I decided to have a 5, with a 5oz on the side. Wheat was my favourite, the brown could do with being a little darker, but was tasty. They’ve not spent much time on cool names for the beers, just plain old “IPA, Bock, Brown etc”, but when they expand in scale, they can worry about this later. There was a great atmosphere when we visited with a limited menu, but a food truck outside. No patches for my brewery tour shirt, but it’s on their radar. Had good fun there.

So fantastic to see a brand new craft brewery in Fort!! The flight we had was tasty, and the server who helped us was super friendly and fun! I’m looking forward to seeing an IPA option some day, stout, sours, and more consistent to-go can options at the bottle shop! 🙂 we were told the can options are scarce and sell out quick, I look forward to seeing to-go cans offered all the time, with lots of variety:)
I personally typically don’t have the time to sit down for draught beer, I’m more the type to buy a two-four to-go at breweries, but when it’s not an option I don’t mind sitting down, and we were glad we did!
Best wishes and good luck in the future, we will be back next time we pass through town!

Nice feature for Fort Frances! Visiting from Victoria BC where we have an abundance of breweries. This one measures up well. Had the flight of 5 to sample them all. Maybe they can try a sour brew at some point. That would be awesome.
