Great gem of a place. We usually go for the icecream but today we got lunch. I had the seafood salad on marble rye & my husband had a meatball sub, both were delicious. The owner is friendly & really half the reason to visit. A lot of history in that building….generations of Hallet’s made that business and I hope it stays in the family for many more. Going back for ice cream before we head on back home to NJ.

Heard the store was reopened, right on 6A , S. Yarmouth.. Charlie the owner was friendly. The store was like stepping back in time. We ordered a turkey sandwich and a chocolate frappe, liquid ice-cream in a glass. Both were deliceous! We highly recommend to anyone to stop in for lunch or an old fashioned ice cream soda or a root beer float.

Good old faashioned soda! A real old timey feel. Can also buy some of their famous clam chowder. Big cans, enough for an appitizer at a family event.

BIZARRE experience coming in here. I’m giving two stars because of the historical factor and what Hallet’s might be under the right owner. It’s too bad, because it could be an utterly charming old fashioned soda fountain. Current owner has the family ties but that’s about it. Just read his reactions to other negative reviews for an idea what I mean …

We stopped here when we were in town for the weekend. We had meatball subs and ice cream sundaes, which were both very good. The owner was very friendly and chatted with us while we ate lunch. I love that this has been in his family for over a hundred years. He was full of knowledge about the area. We initially stopped at another place for lunch, but decided against it. I am very glad we stopped here. There aren’t tons of food options, but we love to support small, local businesses. Good food and nice people.

Had been wanting to stop in for a while and finally did today. It was okay. The ice cream is not home made, I asked. And when he offered to split a frappe in half for my boys, I asked how big it was, he said 24 oz. so I said okay and he gave us two 8 oz. cups. For the frappe and small cup of ice cream it was $15 which I guess is standard fair now but still surprises me. I also don’t know if there are actually any ice cream shops that make their own ice cream anymore. They all seem to outsource. Or at least outsource the base and then add stuff in, like at Smugglers. Anyhoo, it was fine but not somewhere I’d rush back to. I like that it’s old and has a nostalgic feel about it. The owner was friendly. I only had ice cream though so I don’t know how the food is.

Quite possibly the best ice cream around. Truly a real treat. The mocha chocolate chip is fantastic.

We come from Dennis where we are close to another cape favorite. We like Sunday School, but love the ice cream here.

The owner is very friendly and the store has a great story. I hope it’s around for another 125 years!

Give them a few stars for the atmosphere and history, but the lunch fare was not good. The clam chowder was all cream and no clams, and the seafood salad very average. There is a reason they are empty at lunch while nearby places are buzzing.

A Northside institution. Hadn’t been there for years but I heard their clam chowder was excellent, so I had to stop in. It was, so I bought a couple of cans to take back to Florida with me. What a neat place, very nostalgic. When I asked if the old soda fountain had always been where it was, the owner showed me that my memory was pretty accurate, as he had moved it to its current location after a car crashed into the building. Great time, discussing old Yarmouth history and people. If you find yourself driving alon 6A, stop in, get a sandwich and a frappe or milkshake, and think back on simpler times. And pick up a xan of delicious clam chowder.

Great homemade ice cream, very pleasant owner, all at a family owned store that had been passed over generations. Must visit!

P.s. – Not sure why these whiny 1-star reviews are posted. Instead of supporting a local business that sells homemade ice cream, a small number of individuals seem to think they are at corporate Friendly’s. The cups are not recyclable, the man is not friendly enough, the maple ice cream does not have nuts, one scoop is $5, there wasn’t a dog and a pony show. Grow up. It takes time and effort to make. So stop ruining the reputation of a business 130 years old.

Prefer Friendly’s? Go there. Enough with the trolling nonsense. This isnt your facebook wall…
