When my sister used to live in town and we would visit, she would take us to Side Street Inn every time. Now that she lives in the burbs, it’s a bit of a trek. I saw that Hali’a had recently opened up near her, so we ordered takeout for dinner one night. We had:

-“The Works” Fried Rice (signature fried rice with kim chee and lup cheong) – the signature fried rice already has bacon, Portuguese sausage, and char siu in it, so if you get “The Works”, it’ll be extra meaty. I didn’t love the char siu in it. It was a bit dry and had this smoky flavor I didn’t care for
-Side Street inn’s Famous Pan-Fried Pork Chops – I’m normally not a pork chop gal but I will eat a fried pork chop because when done correctly, it is juicy. Unfortunately, this one hit the mark and again, was a bit dry. I’m sensing a theme with their pork items
-Signature Garlic Chicken (special marinated fried chicken dipped in a sweet shoyu garlic sauce) – this is just as good as I remember it was a the original Side Street Inn. It was flavorful and perfectly fried.

All the dishes are huge and are all family-style. It was more than enough food for four adults + two kids, with a lot of leftovers the next day. I still remember the original restaurant being better, but this will do in a pinch.

Everybody sang Happy Birth Day. Good food, good times. Creme Brulee was just like Kincaids when Ward was a thing.

Ewa Beach provides a truly exceptional setting. We are pleased to announce the opening of our esteemed Kapahulu restaurant at this new Ewa location. The Chinese Chicken Salad presented an appealing visual and culinary experience, offering a generous portion suitable for two to four individuals. The pork chops were outstanding, ideally portioned for two. The original fried rice, a consistent comfort food favorite, provided ample servings for four. We are delighted with this development.

A welcome addition to Wai Kai in Ewa Beach! Same great service and ono food you expect from Sidestreet Inn. Our server, Abcde is a Rockstar at her job! The staff we interacted with were all super friendly and accommodating as well, even during the dinner rush. Plenty of parking and make a reservation if you can, otherwise it was a 2-3 hour wait depending on party size.

I’m so happy that Side Street Inn opened a location in Ewa Beach! It’s such a treat not having to drive all the way to Kapahulu anymore. We’ve already been here twice — once for my daughter’s birthday and again for my husband’s — and both times were amazing.

The service here is top-notch! From the moment you walk in, everyone is so warm and welcoming — from the hosts to the servers to the cooks. You can really feel the aloha. The decor is really nice too!

Now let’s talk about the food… honestly, it’s even better than the Kapahulu location (and that’s saying a lot!). We’ve tried the Pork Chops (way better than Kapahulu’s), Farmers & Tofu Salad, Boneless Kalbi, Garlic Chicken, Signature Fried Rice, Yakisoba, and for the kiddos — Popcorn Chicken and fries. Every single dish was ONO!

And for the first time ever, we actually had room for dessert. We got a complimentary Reese’s Peanut Butter Crunch dessert, and hands down, it’s one of the best desserts I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Do yourself a favor and try it — you won’t regret it!

We’ll definitely be back again and again!
10/10 Highly recommend!!

The food and the service with a smile is great..the flies are horrendous. The price is up there so you really need to have 4 or more people. Music good, drinks strong, food delicious if u can battle the flies for it!

Disappointed by food and flies. Chicken salad was bland and had almost no chicken. Pork chops were dry. Service was slow and prices were high for 2 guests. Better value for 4 or more because of large portions and high prices. Too many flies landing on our food, despite the fly fans.

First time to this location. Food amazing like downtown. Only reservation we could get online was 4pm. Place was dead. Even when we left at 530 still quiet so just walk in.

Our bartender/sever was cool, however we were accused of trying to skip our tab when we simply were; 1)going to use the restroom (which is outside of the facility) and 2) Merely abiding with state law to be 20ft+ to smoke and were chased down as if trying to dine & dash. Meanwhile my phone, hat and bag of food(leftovers) was resting at the table with napkins covering our drinks (which in the industry indicates don’t take it because we’re returning and had to step out.

The triggering affect was when they basically chased us down while still on the premises assuming we weren’t gonna pay our tab, we were surprised after being asked for a credit card (after the fact) and then being told that we have to leave the establishment, kinda liked being 86’d. The feeling was like assumed guilty until proven innocent. I’ve never left a negative review or comment as far as I can remember and even maybe their experience is that others have done pilau things in the past, that shouldn’t represent our situation given the facts stated above. Why would one leave a $2000.00 phone to avoid paying a $200 dollar bill?? It doesn’t make sense. On top of that there was no GM on premises. Which im sure by policy needs to be.
