Established in 1931 the Halfway House Café sits on the Sierra Highway in one of the most northern parts of Los Angeles County. It’s just down the road from Animal Tracks, which is a wonderful animal rescue and rehab society. This little country diner has been in many famous commercials and I am sure in a few movies/shows as well. It feels like you are stepping back in time because it is located literally right off the desolate main road. It has a dirt lot for parking and looks like something you would see in an old West town. Inside looks like you would expect from the outside and is a great throwback to the black-and-white days of old Hollywood when Route 66 was fully operational. Our server was very polite, and everything that we ordered came out very fast. They have large sized portions and pricing is fair. There is plenty of parking available out front and inside is larger than it looks from the outside, so there will be many tables to choose from.
For my first visit, I started off with a cup of coffee, which is what I always do and really enjoyed this blend. It had a great medium roast taste and was very strong. For my meal, I chose the Eggs Benedict and added avocado. I thought it was honestly really good because the ham was particularly tasty and thicker than you usually get. You can tell that it is a higher quality meat than you would get at some other diners around town. I was pleasantly surprised with it. I honestly really enjoyed my breakfast and part of the fun was actually getting to this restaurant. I live in Marina Del Rey so it is quite a drive from where I am from, but that made it exciting because I got to see some roads and sites that I have never seen before on my way to breakfast. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the Santa Clarita area or to anyone that is willing to take a road trip for a great breakfast spot.

Great spot for casual dining. Looks like it’s fresh out of roadhouse, no wonder it’s a popular filming location.
Staff is super friendly and fun, everyone should experience this gem

Food: 3, Service:5 and Atmosphere; 5. That sorta says it all. Typical breakfast, diner fare. The draw is the location and its history. Pretty sure my hamburger was at least partly soy and the green chili was slimy. I’ll probably stay with breakfast if we go back and within 5 miles of our house and we pass it routinely picking up, dropping off our RV. Service was exceptional. Fast and courteous. Food got out quick as well. My wife enjoyed her breakfast food and the burger was edible but you come here for the Cindy Crawford Pepsi commercial, For the dozens of TV shows and movies filmed here. The place has provenance and is worth a visit if not quite regularity.

Okay, from the outside this place looks like a dump. All the signage is very old and faded, it doesn’t even look like it’s open. But walk inside, and it’s very cheery, the waitress was so sweet, and the food was good too. On the menu was listed many of the TV shows and movies, etc. where this restaurant has been filmed. I haven’t searched yet to see if there are any listings beyond the 2017 on this list. When driving the 14 freeway North I don’t really think about what’s out there, so it was eye-opening to take Sierra Hwy, Sand Canyon, and some of the other little places off the freeway.

The food was yummy. Great customer service. About 10 min wait time. Freshly squeezed OJ. Loved the interior of it. It really takes you back to the 1900s.

Just like in the movies
As a German, I always dreamed of visiting a diner just like the ones you see in the movies. Like that scene in Top Gun: Maverick when Tom Cruise parachutes into the diner — that’s exactly the vibe! I absolutely love this place. It has incredible flair, great service, amazing food — just all-around fantastic! Exactly what my movie buff heart was looking for!

I really enjoyed myself eating breakfast here today. The food is amazing and everyone here is super friendly! I had The Halfway House Super Breakfast and I got more than my fill. For my beverages I had a large orange juice and ice water. I highly recommend stopping by or going out of your way to eat here.

If you have not stopped at this hidden gem, you are missing out. Forget the big restaurant chains. You want a great delicious breakfast. This is your spot. The atmosphere is quiet and clean. The waitresses are so friendly make you feel like you’ve been going there for years. The food is so good, but their coffee is addictive lol trust me when I say I have never had such delicious coffee . I have to control myself from not having more than I should. Their restrooms are clean and there are plenty of parking outside. This has become are go to breakfast spot. The inside has plenty of seating, and the neat thing is that this gem has been in movies, shows, and commercials.
