This was the first time I visited here and it was great! I loved the Ahi tuna appetizer, just delicious. lol, The food was really good, I ate it so fast I didn’t get a picture of it. I did however take pictures of the mixed drinks. If you just want to stop in for those I highly recommend it! Oh, and I can’t forget the staff!!! They were so sweet and welcoming, and the hostess had on the cutest boots!

We had a great dinner at Hale House in downtown Charleston. I ordered the 8-ounce filet, cooked perfectly, paired with scalloped potatoes and a Caesar salad. Everything was flavorful and plated beautifully. I also had a margherita, which was well made and hit the spot.
One of the best things about Hale House is that it’s one of the few places downtown with convenient parking—which definitely makes it more attractive, especially if you’re not staying nearby. Solid experience all around, and I’d definitely go back.

An absolute gem! Was busy when we arrived but got seated immediately. The pork rinds and buffalo chicken wonton were absolutely to die for. Flavorful and delicious all the way around. our waitress was above and beyond, super kind and friendly, and checked on us often. First time in this city and I picked the right place. We came in for dinner. We were immediately greeted and the hostess said they were just cleaning a table for us. Our server Scott came by right away and asked about drinks and made some nice recommendations. He actually picked out a smooth blackberry bourbon that my wife really enjoyed. The bacon wrapped shrimp app was very very good. Both our entrees were cooked perfectly and delicious. Scott always made sure we had everything we needed. It’s nice to have such competent servers. On the way out it was close to closing but instead of lounging around all the free servers were busy wiping things down and cleaning. Now that’s a well run establishment. We have friends coming up from Philly and we are definitely coming back there with them. Kudos.

We came to Charleston from Northeast Ohio because my daughter wanted cookout (fave fast food from down south) so we had that for lunch and stumbled upon Hale House for dinner. It did not disappoint, that’s for sure. We had the short ribs, chicken & salmon dinners and split them all so we could try all 3 dishes. The short ribs were my least favorite due to the texture but the chicken and salmon were amazing! Our server Andrea, was the best server I’ve had in years and we eat out a lot! Also, the speakeasy downstairs has a really cool vibe if your interested in a drink before dinner.

Highly recommend reservations. We got lucky to slip in just before the massive dinner crowd. Our waitress (Amber) and everyone there was super sweet and professional. Happened to be a hot hot day so the inside of the restaurant had a tough time staying cool. Hence the cold cold local beer which was pretty delicious. Split the large Cesar salad and steak with au gratin. There was no room for dessert. But next time when we stop by, we will make room for dessert.
And the speakeasy – located in the lower level, definitely cool vibes. Will also try some cocktails there next time.

Love this place! The speakeasy was super cool but the drinks and food were perfect! Drinks were a chocolate covered raspberry martini, tequila sunrise and the drink of the month, S’mores martini. We ordered the Ahi tuna for our appetizer then the filet with scalloped potatoes and prime rib with the sweet potatoes.

Overall, I thought the food was very good, with only a few minor issues. Unfortunately, the service did not meet the same standard.
I understand that the prime rib is subject to availability. However, when another member of my party and I both ordered it, we were informed moments later that only one serving remained. This created an awkward situation at the table, as we had to decide who would change their order.
I chose to switch to the ribeye with asparagus. The ribeye was prepared very well and I was pleased with it. That said, I was disappointed that the asparagus carried an additional charge yet consisted of only five pieces.
The most concerning aspect of the evening was the service. The gentleman who served us was polite initially, but the experience declined as the meal progressed. It took multiple trips to receive our drinks, and when we asked to place our food order, he appeared impatient. While collecting our menus, he set them down rather abruptly on the table in front of him. Additionally, we were not offered refills on water or alcoholic beverages throughout the meal.
When paying for a higher-priced dining experience, I expect a corresponding level of attentive and professional service. I hope this feedback is helpful, as the quality of the food shows strong potential.

Got seated right away, so that was wonderful and not always the case. Make sure to call for reservations if you can. My chicken dinner was really good and my Wife said her salad was fantastic. If you’re really hungry, may want to consider and extra side with the grilled chicken. You can thank me later.

Traveling through. First time we had been Charleston, WV and first time at Hale House. Amazing experience, drinks, food AND service. Joseph was so knowledgeable about everything, drinks and food. If you ever have the chance, Hale House is a must!
