When we first opened Modena Pizza & Ice Cream, we wanted it to be a place where folks could stop in for a quick slice of pizza knowing they wouldn’t be sacrificing quality for time. We brought a love of New York style pizza from the East Coast all the way over here to San Francisco, and we’re excited that we get to share that love with our city every day. Each morning starts with preparing our homemade dough and our specialty sauce made with fresh ingredients and plenty of flavor. When that’s all ready to go, we add the cheese and the toppings. But our favorite part of the process is serving those slices to you, our guests! It’s pretty cool that such a simple combination of bread, sauce, cheese, and toppings can inspire the widest smiles.

Hands down the best pizza for not only late night but all hours of the day! You will find yourself craving a slice after your first visit. The guy behind the counter at night does a great job handling rowdy visitors while preparing your pizza any way you like. The pesto pizza is amazing, don’t know if I’ll ever go back to red sauce! Seriously you must come check this hidden gem on 6th Street out! You won’t be disappointed.

ABSOLUTE BEST PIZZA IN THE TENDERLOIN HANDS DOWN!! I love coming to this pizza joint that is tucked off in the beginning of sixth street and Stevenson alley/market street area in San Francisco california. The pizza is always hot and fresh never cold like most places in the city. And I mean that!! The staff is so friendly to everyone who comes in for service. They are super helpful and will accommodate to your order if they dont have exactly what your looking for at that time. The restaurant is very modern and SUPER CLEAN unlike most places on this side of sixth street. (Probably the cleanest building on the block!) And the hours are super awesome because they are open early to super late, from 10:00 am- 3:00 am!! The establishment offers pickup and delivery so if you like it as much as I do then you can enjoy this pizza at home! Now a days you can’t get a decent slice for more than 7.00 now it seems like. Here at Modena they’re combination slice is only 4.80 out the door. So now you know why it is the best place so far. I had to write a review because it’s been awhile since I’ve ate out or gotten any food from a restaurant and now I finally got to eat out and I’m glad I chose this pizza joint! Good for all ages in the family;! And they also have pastas and burgers & sandwiches as well! Hope you enjoy this hidden gem!

Besides, the craziness outside the pizza was awesome. Crunchy cheesy. Loved it. It’s one of the best slices I’ve had in a while. Had the red velvet cake also, and it was good. The frosting I could only imagine how good it would be on the carrot cake, but still a good red velvet.
Definitely come get a slice here. You’ll be happy you did!!!

I have had a lot of pizza in SF and out of SF. This place was hands down the best pizza slice I ever had in my entire life. I ordered a cheese pizza and it had the perfect ingredient ratios, a thin crispyish underneath, delicious crust, really good sauce and honestly was identical to the New York pizzas I see online. I would definitely return to 6th street just for their pizza. The man working behind the counter who I am assuming is the owner was also really nice and wholesome. The prices were also great

Where to start. This place is located in a very unsafe part of town. The sidewalk had spilled food and vomit and lots of people with serious problems.

Their pizza is seriously next level. The crust is light, airy, and perfectly charred — you can tell it’s made the authentic way. I tried their classic Margherita and the Modena Special, and both were loaded with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The balance of flavors was spot-on, and the mozzarella just melted beautifully into the sauce.
The service was friendly and fast, and the staff seemed genuinely passionate about the food. Prices are very fair considering the quality you’re getting. Honestly, Modena Pizza might just be my new go-to spot. Highly recommend!

I really want to give this a 3.5 because it was better than average pizza, but not quite top tier. Stoped by to get some food in me after hitting a couple nearby bars with some friends and so the pizzas they had likely had been cooked some time ago. That being said, the gentleman there was great and warmed up my slice for me and I really have nothing to complain about, just not quite top tier, but a big combo slice for $5 always works.

The younger cook is great makes everything perfectly I had bad experiences multiple times with the older cooks they are sloppy and don’t make the food with care I ordered pasta and meatballs and the whole plate napkins and bag was soaked completely in oil. There was probably 8 ounces of loose oil in my plastic bag it was stupid. I’ll only order a pizza here when the younger male cook is working

So even though I asked for BBQ sauce for my chicken tenders, I got some gunky marinara that was uncoovered and splattered everywhere. On top of that, the driver was rude and didn’t want to give my fiance our food. I even confirmed my name for the driver and he was still acting funny. The driver literally tossed the food to my fiance, got in his car and drove off. Never again!
