The food is delicious! The baked salt chicken made me think of Ton Kiang, my favorite Hakka spot in outer Richmond, San Francisco. We’re planning to return to try their other dishes, especially those in the clay pots. It’s clear the owner and staff are listening to what customers say in the reviews. The service was friendly and quick, with dishes arriving in just 10 minutes. It’s wonderful to find a Cantonese/Hakka restaurant on the Eastside.

I went here during opening day. Food was great, and always good to see Charlie. The staff and kitchen was still adjusting to the new restaurant. Will definitely come back to see how things improve as they get dialed in.

Edit:
I returned a week later and ordered their Hawaiian style noodle cake, beef noodle soup, and famous stuffed tofu. All dishes were spectacular! Staff seemed more dialed in and familiar with their service. Overall, a great improvement over opening week and looking forward to more visits in the future.

Delicious and authentic Taiwanese food, with items that you won’t find anywhere else in the Seattle area. We loved eating at their old Bellevue location, so we’re glad they’re back and the food is great as ever.

Owner is very friendly and passionate about the food; he mentioned he personally brings back the sakura shrimp they use, and it really makes a big difference creating the authentic taste you just can’t get with the commercially available options.

Would strongly recommend everyone come try, I’m sure you’ll all understand why so many of us are excited Hakka House is back.

Long wait time and poor service but otherwise excellent food and friendly staff. Better to revisit in a month when they sort out all the logistics and the staff are fully trained.

We lined up at 12:25pm and had a 30 minute wait at the door. There is no online wait-list, and the waiter eventually put everyone’s names down on a list. After seating, we got our order in within 15 minutes, but our food didn’t arrive until a full hour after that. There is a dim sum cart walking around where we can order and get the food immediately, which helped with the wait.

We ordered the Hakka Three Cup Chicken (客家三杯鸡) and Stir Fried Beef Noodle (干炒牛河), along with Pork Century Egg Congee (皮蛋瘦肉粥), a soup and some dim sum. There appeared to be some logistics issues with the order as we some items were missing from the order ticket, and an item came back as unavailable. Every food item came nonetheless.

When it eventually arrived, the food was great, tasting of authentic Taiwanese flavors and reasonably seasoned. The Three Cup Chicken was on the sweeter side but I enjoyed it. Only the dim sum was mediocre.

We noticed some tables that ordered after us and received their food before ours, so the long wait may have due to the ticket mixup. I recommend to revisit the restaurant after they’ve trained their staff and sorted out the logistics. They’ve only just opened on Tuesday.

We visited during business hours and were seated normally. After looking at the menu for about five minutes and getting ready to order, a lady staff member told us that none of the stir-fried dishes were available because the chef was taking a break, and we could only order pre-made dim sum.

There was no notice about this, and the staff didn’t mention it when seating us. It was frustrating to find out only after sitting down and reading the menu, and there was no apology from the staff either.

As a female customer myself, I just want to say—keep an eye out. The way the owner talks to women can be pretty off-putting, even inappropriate at times. Just be aware if you’re going there! Just for context—this screenshot is from a Google review a few years ago.

A couple of years ago I lost my favorite restaurant… The Hakka House Bellevue. This week my second favorite restaurant El Toriador was replaced by my Favorite restaurant! Thank you for returning to the area Charley Lee!

We came for the grand opening day, and now again for the weekend Hakka House world famous dim sum!

It’s so good to see Charley running around keeping an eye on things and talking to customers again.

Quick note to the people who are leaving low reviews to an extremely busy restaurant on its first couple of opening days. The owner and staff are just figuring out the process of working together and learning the muscle memory of their operational flow. Before posting a poor review, how about you give them a couple of weeks and give them another try. You will be surprised at how much faster and efficient they are.

To the Hakka House staff and owner: I’m proud of you all! Welcome home!
