Reviews
Edit:
I returned a week later and ordered their Hawaiian style noodle cake, beef noodle soup, and famous stuffed tofu. All dishes were spectacular! Staff seemed more dialed in and familiar with their service. Overall, a great improvement over opening week and looking forward to more visits in the future.
Owner is very friendly and passionate about the food; he mentioned he personally brings back the sakura shrimp they use, and it really makes a big difference creating the authentic taste you just can’t get with the commercially available options.
Would strongly recommend everyone come try, I’m sure you’ll all understand why so many of us are excited Hakka House is back.
We lined up at 12:25pm and had a 30 minute wait at the door. There is no online wait-list, and the waiter eventually put everyone’s names down on a list. After seating, we got our order in within 15 minutes, but our food didn’t arrive until a full hour after that. There is a dim sum cart walking around where we can order and get the food immediately, which helped with the wait.
We ordered the Hakka Three Cup Chicken (客家三杯鸡) and Stir Fried Beef Noodle (干炒牛河), along with Pork Century Egg Congee (皮蛋瘦肉粥), a soup and some dim sum. There appeared to be some logistics issues with the order as we some items were missing from the order ticket, and an item came back as unavailable. Every food item came nonetheless.
When it eventually arrived, the food was great, tasting of authentic Taiwanese flavors and reasonably seasoned. The Three Cup Chicken was on the sweeter side but I enjoyed it. Only the dim sum was mediocre.
We noticed some tables that ordered after us and received their food before ours, so the long wait may have due to the ticket mixup. I recommend to revisit the restaurant after they’ve trained their staff and sorted out the logistics. They’ve only just opened on Tuesday.
There was no notice about this, and the staff didn’t mention it when seating us. It was frustrating to find out only after sitting down and reading the menu, and there was no apology from the staff either.
We came for the grand opening day, and now again for the weekend Hakka House world famous dim sum!
It’s so good to see Charley running around keeping an eye on things and talking to customers again.
Quick note to the people who are leaving low reviews to an extremely busy restaurant on its first couple of opening days. The owner and staff are just figuring out the process of working together and learning the muscle memory of their operational flow. Before posting a poor review, how about you give them a couple of weeks and give them another try. You will be surprised at how much faster and efficient they are.
To the Hakka House staff and owner: I’m proud of you all! Welcome home!
