Have tried on more than one occasion and has not improved. Service is more than slow. Last time, we just ate salad bar. Got there shortly after opening and lettuce had many brown pieces already, cubed ham had grissled pieces, broccoli salad was bad, cornbread was dry and hard with packet of honey so old it was crystalized. The seasoned bread was the best thing served. Won’t be going back.

The salads at the salad bar all tasted off, were mostly mayo, and were not appetizing. I tried the chili and corn bread and couldn’t finish those either due to strange flavors. There was slimey old salad lettuce mixed in to fresh lettuce. $13 for one trip felt bizarre. I asked for a medium cooked New York steak and it was given to me almost well-done with 0 plate appeal, just an over cooked, unseasoned piece of thin meat with grissle and a baked potato that was literally just a potato with a slit down the middle on a plate, for way too much money. Not sure why they use an orange slice to garnish a steak. I felt ripped off by the price compared to the quality of the food. I know they boast about how good their unseasoned steaks are, but I don’t get the gimmick. The entire place is coated in tacky decorations that clash and collect dust. The fake candle at my table had sharp broken glass pieces on the rim. For that much money they could at least get some real candles. Extremely overwhelming atmosphere for people with sensory processesing issues.

I’ve been coming here once or twice a year for decades, and have never one been disappointed in any way. The Thanksgiving buffet had been amazing all 3 times we’ve been, and is well worth the admittedly steep price. You pay for quality here, and I will happily do so again in the future.

The atmosphere and the building is cool, and had some great music. Unfortunately wasn’t a big fan of the prime rib. My friend and I both ordered prime rib, myself rare and he got medium rare. They came out identical, so if they are not going to be cooked separately I would have rather been told how the entire cut had been prepared. Have heard good things from many people but on that particular night we did not feel it lived up to the hype.

The owner was very kind and very welcoming, the server was decent…but the food was incredibly disappointing. I’m not hard to please with food, but I paid $80 for two quarter inch thin, tough, none seasoned steaks. The presentation of the meals was horrible, just a bland unseasoned steak with an unopened baked potato. The salad bar was atrocious, the salad was slimy and old, the potato salad was just boiled potatoes and mayo…I was so excited to take my fiance there as I missed going…never going back again.

My husband and I drove from Caldwell,
We were charged $45 for a $32 rib eye steak. The steak had minimal flavor.
Hostess was fantastic as well as the waitress.
It has been about 5 years since we ate there. Also had fantastic steak.
Guess we’ll stick with Longhorn.
Always can expect the best steak.

I visited Haines Steak House this evening while visiting Baker City. We were welcome with no wait and the service was fantastic. The meals were so delicious. Our steaks were juicy and full of flavor, and you get so many sides. Our meal came with salad bar, chili, baked beans, corn bread, and your choice of potato. The atmosphere made me feel like I was in a small town movie, I love the honey decor. The salad bar that was in the wagon was the hilight of the interior. I would dine here again any day. Every bite of our meal was fantastic!

On our recent and return trip to Baker City Oregon we made reservations at the Haines Steak House. The food was delicious and the service prompt and people there take good care of the customers.
I had the ribeye steak. My husband had the T-bone steak the salad bar was fresh. We had the best visit with the folks at the front desk. We had left overs of course with enough food for breakfast and lunch before we came home on Sunday
We will definitely be back.
