Take the backroads
Where to start! There were so many restaurants to try I am glad I picked this one.

The hummus was amazing. It had a nice zip. Chicken was seasoned well.

As a Kansas City local, I’ve been going to Habashi House for years, and it’s the first place I take out-of-town friends. Whether you eat meat or not, the flavors and textures here are crowd-pleasers. The classics are outstanding—gyros, falafel, tahini, tabouli, tzatziki—and the rice with perfectly toasted almond slivers is the fragrant stuff of dreams. In colder months, do yourself a favor and order the lentil soup; it’s simple, comforting, and deeply satisfying.

Don’t skip dessert—baklava or the fig cheesecake—and consider a take-home pint of tabouli or hummus. Then pop next door to their market for spices to bring the flavors home. The setting is open and breezy, and the location in City Market puts you steps from other local favorites; if you’re with a group, everyone can find something they love and enjoy the covered veranda outside.

For me, Habashi House feels like a little day trip to Petra, while being very much a part of my own hometown. Don’t miss it.

This is literally the best place to eat in the city. The lady who runs it does an absolutely fantastic job! and is so incredibly kind and caring and sweet. My card wasn’t working one day and she was gonna let me come back and pay for it the next day
The food is always fantastic!!

Great prices, quick and delicious. Would go back anytime!

It’s been five years, as of ’22, and I still think of this place. If I’m ever back in town, this would be a first stop.

February 2024, I still think about you
September 2025, we’re planing a cross country road trip, I might need to put you on the list.

Everything was magnificent. From the smells and atmosphere of walking in to every bite of food. We got the shawarma hummus, gyro hummus, and falafel platter with some baklava and each one was perfect. I can’t wait to come back.

Again I didn’t eat here. I was shopping for spices, for cooking and grilling. This place smells amazing!

Love this place. My Dad lived in Saudi Arabia for 12 years, and this is also his favorite Arabian restaurant that he’s found in the whole US, out of 11 different states we’ve lived in. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Haven’t been here in over 15 years but our family still talks about this place

Yes, I know there are plenty of great places to eat at City Market, but when I say Habashi House has the best hummus I have ever had, believe it. I am usually my happiest as a foodie when I happen upon a place that is small, fast, and has a lot of passion for the food they make. Everything we ate here was some of the best I have had. The hummus is a must for sure though and you can buy it to go! This is another place where I will return everytime I make back to KC! Enjoy!

Everything about this place is authentic. The delicious food, kind and friendly service, the music playing in the background and the ambiance. I ordered a falafel platter and it was very flavorful and delicious ! Really good complimentary mint tea. Highly recommend this restaurant in City Market.

Went to Habashi House located in City Market for lunch. Food was a generous portion size and we received an ample amount of pita bread to accompany the food. The hummus was creamy with a nice touch of acidity and the falafel was moist. Meat was well seasoned and was a pleasure to eat. This is a great fast casual place to get middle eastern food. Parking can be a bit of a pain in this area of town.
