The new Habaneros Mexican Restaurant is nothing short of incredible! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and an atmosphere that’s both vibrant and welcoming. The décor is colorful and inviting, with a perfect mix of modern style and traditional Mexican charm — you can feel the energy and authenticity in every corner.

I forgot to snap a pic of the chips and queso but this place might have the best chips and queso in Birmingham. Some restaurants have great chips but okay queso. Some restaurants have great queso but okay chips. Habaneros has both! I got the ranchero steak and added peppers and onions (think that’s it) and my wife got the chimichanga and the churros for dessert. Service was prompt.We will be back!

Habañeros is BACK!! The new refreshed location is SO pretty, and the food is just as good (and reasonably priced) as the last location! The waitstaff is much the same and still very attentive as they’ve always been, and I really cannot overstate just how beautiful the new dining area is. It feels like you’re eating in a Disney restaurant. There are so many cute details to look at during your wait for your food, which is never long. The menu as well seems more streamlined, and as always, the food is amazing.

This place serves a great Cadillac margarita. I love their brown sauce for their enchiladas and chimichangas. The enchiladas verdes are tasty, their tea is clear and sweet, their servers are great, the manager does a great job keeping things in order, and they even serve fried ice cream. This is our favorite place to have Mexican food and we’re delighted to have it back.

Very great experience at the Habeneros Grill, every member of the staff was bright and had a fantastic attitude. Service was VERY quick, bottom of my glass was never dry and food was brought out within 5 minutes of ordering and was fantastic. I would highly recommend this spot if you are looking for a good, consistent Mexican restaurant.

My son and I went here for a meal in between lunch and dinner hours. They were still rather busy but service was super fast! The food came out so quick that we were shocked. Fresh and hot!
I had the lunch special (11a – 3p) beef chimichanga. It was a generous portion and so tasty! My son had the chili relleno and loved his as well.
The menu’s a bit worn and tattered. Could use some replacement. The decor is very colorful, festive and fun!
Will definitely be going back!

The new location was a terrible disappointment. The old location on Hwy 31 in Hoover was my favorite place for 20 years. While the new location not far from it had the same menu, everything has changed.
No ambiance, it’s so loud you can’t have a conversation for starters, then the food, just awful. And the new tables are very short at the booths. I’m 5’5 and it was below my naval.
Service is fine, but what happened to the food?
Guacamole is no longer fresh, spinach is frozen now, not fresh, and not even grilled for my spinach enchilada, I swear it still had ice from the frozen box in it…the cheese sauce is not the same, it tastes and dries up like a slice of white American cheese, and to top it off, they no longer put cheese inside the Chile rellenos, it’s now just bland meat, and the beans were so runny they dripped through my tiny 20 cent fork.
Even the salsa was so very bland. I’m so disappointed, it was my favorite place for so many years. I doubt I’ll ever go back, and that makes me very sad.

The food is AMAZING!! The drinks were very good as well . Although our server was not really, the best he barely came over to check on us to see how we were doing. I asked him for a to go tray took him several minutes to give me my to go tray. the friend I was with ended up getting it and grabbing my to go Tray herself never asked us if our check was together or separate. Just put everything on one check without asking us first to confirm anything. I will say if you go on Sundays between the times of 3 to 6 it does get overly crowded and very noisy. He also somewhat rushed just as well and wasn’t very welcoming always in a hurry. Overall, I rate the food, a 10 out of 10 and the drinks as well just not our service that we received.

First time here, Iron Bowl Saturday; a moderate crowd but I came to celebrate a relative’s b’day. The service was excellent- my server was very responsive & they kept my sweet tea glass full, and the tea was perfect for my taste! The food was good, and about 5 or 10 minutes after we placed our order, most of our food was at the table. My sizzling chicken fajita was then brought to the table, and I got a shrimp taco a la carte. Before we ordered, we enjoyed the tortilla chips & queso. When I told them we’re there for a b’day, they came & sang Happy Birthday to celebrate his b’day which was nice since most places don’t do that since Covid. I will definitely be back.
