I do however give them a pass, since the food truck was during an event for Public Lands.
Al pastor tacos – 6.3/10 – the pork needs more flavoring and lacks punch. I feel like this is something I can make at home, with the pineapple and the season they have on the pork. It’s not good but also not terrible.
Barbacoa burrito bowl – 6/10 – decent flavoring, but I wish the rice was flavored better. It didn’t pop out as the ingredients didn’t seem to have that extra umpf. This is a burrito bowl I feel I could have made at home.
Habanero sauce – 6/10 – I’m a bit disappointed with this. I expected it to be really spicy, which it wasnt. The sauce felt really watered down and lacking flavor. I don’t think it was even salty enough to use as normal dipping salsa.
One of the workers thought I said a name for pickup. I clearly repeated that I wanted a bowl. Instead of simply asking for clarification, she told me, “You came here last time and gave a name and we gave you food that didn’t belong to you,” basically accusing me of theft. That was embarrassing and unprofessional.
The irony is, the ONLY reason that situation ever happened in the past is because they gave me the wrong order in the first place. By the time I realized it, I was already home, in my pajamas, 40 minutes away, and they were closed. That wasn’t theft — that was their mistake. For that incident, I even had to use a translator to explain myself.
How does a business mess up an order, then later accuse the customer of stealing because of their own error? If there’s a language barrier, that’s fine — but then the responsibility is on the business to communicate properly, not jump to accusations.
The staff barely understands basic English beyond menu words, and instead of taking two seconds to clarify, they assumed the worst. This could’ve been avoided with one simple question: “Are you ordering or picking up?”
Being accused of stealing over a misunderstanding is not okay.
My friend got the kids burrito which was a great size for a quick dinner, and the chips were good too. She also had the vegetarian tamale which was delicious – cheese, veggies, very moist, fresh, and the perfect amount of slight heat.
Staff was really kind and let us swap the kids juice for a soda. This will be in my taco rotation for sure! That shredded beef was absolutely delicious.
Street tacos (meat, cilantro, red onion) are particularly good, especially with Barbacoa. Beans, sopes, and tortilla chips are good too. Quesabirria tacos (birria with melted cheese) are really good, but best eaten at the restaurant, hot from the grill (you lose the crunchiness of the fried taco with takeout)
Restaurant setting is pretty basic
