Habanero Mexican Café is an absolute gem! The restaurant has an authentic taste and vibe that makes you feel right at home. I tried the Chori-migas, and it was delicious—full of flavor and cooked perfectly. I also sampled the red enchiladas as a side dish, and they did not disappoint.

The prices are very budget-friendly, especially for the quality of food you get. This spot is definitely going on my list of must-visit places. I’ll absolutely be coming back again whenever I’m in Austin!

This is a Mexican food establishment. I came for lunch on an extremely busy Monday. They only have an all indoor seating that happens to be quite cluttered and crammed. I can see how some review comments stated that the servers spoke somewhat abruptly. Not necessarily bothersome to me, it’s evident that they’re a very well established restaurant that technically do not need this new customer. As for the food, large portions looked appealing. My enchiladas, I did not like that they were stuffed with slices of grilled chicken. The beef dish? The meat was somewhat nervy. The charro beans and refried beans and rice did have a great flavor. Hence their popularity. So as for the lunch dishes, it’ll be a hit or miss.

Great place

Wait was relatively short about 5/7 min for joining on week day at noon

Staff very pleasant and friendly.

Food was delicious!!! Home made traditional food I would completely recommend. The salsa with the chips is a bit spicy on the tongue which feels good. Daily lunch menu special has great option and prices are very decent!!

Absolutely delicious. My husband and I came for lunch on at 1:00 ish on Friday and there was around a 15 minute wait. We both order the picadillo lunch special and our plates were generously heaped with food (not pictured, three corn tortillas). Unbelievable value for the price, will absolutely return.

In town from Houston and a co worker recommended this place. There was a little bit of a wait (10 minutes) for 2 of us at lunch time, but it is usually a good sign when a place is busy. This place did not disappoint. The salsa was the best salsa I’ve ever had. Perfect amount of flavor and spice. The food was the best Mexican food I’ve ever had and I eat Mexican food at least once a week. Service was excellent. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could.

I don’t really understand the hype. The food was just okay overall. The prices were fair, but there wasn’t anything particularly memorable or extraordinary about the dishes. It definitely felt more like Tex-Mex than traditional Mexican food. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it’s not somewhere I’d go out of my way to return to.

The service was amazing, under a 10 minute wait even though it was very busy and we were expecting a 20+ min wait. Staff is very kind and quick. Food was so delicious we got the migas plate and the chori-migas plate.
We tried both the corn and flour tortillas and they were all right.
Looking at all the other dishes in the restaurant made me want to order everything.
Atmosphere has low volume music due to the restaurant bustle which is good, its a cozy atmosphere. I’d be a regular if I lived closer.

Best authentic Mexican food we’ve tried in Austin so far since moving here three months ago. I’m so happy we ran into this place on a Friday because their chicken mole Friday special was THE BEST THING EVER. Most tender chicken thigh you’ll ever have. Their chips and salsa dip was also amazing along with the staff’s hospitality. VISIT NOW!

My first time and last time. Very disappointed drove for nothing for a kids size soup for 16.00 . Not worth the time or $. stop being tight with the soup please and learn to brake bread like Jesus did. And learn to give chips and salsa to your customers with take out orders.

INCREDIBLE!! We are visiting from the east coast and needed somewhere to stop before we leave, I came across this place just looking for food on Google and saw all the other great reviews and figured we should stop here. Thank goodness we did!! It was packed with locals and working men, and we knew that was a good sign. We were seated within 10 minutes, drinks and chips with the best tasting spicy salsa I’ve had our whole trip, and the food came out in less than 10-15mins. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! We recommended it to our friends that live here, and WILL be back on our next visit. Thank you for an amazing experience!
