The absolute highlight of the meal was the Banh Xeo. It was exceptionally prepared, boasting an authentic flavor profile and a satisfying crispiness that immediately transported me back to my travels in Hanoi. It is undoubtedly a dish I would return specifically to enjoy again.
For the main course, our party of three sampled a variety of Pho. While I had initially hoped to try a seafood option, the meat broths certainly did not disappoint. The soup was wonderfully clean and refreshing—the kitchen clearly takes care to skim off excess oil, resulting in a delightfully light yet deeply savory flavor. The taste of the beef itself was excellent, though I must note that the texture was slightly on the tougher side. A touch more tenderness in the meat would elevate the dish to sheer perfection.
Overall, it was a truly satisfying meal grounded in genuine flavors. I look forward to returning for another plate of that wonderful Banh Xeo.
For real, this is the must-go gem whenever I return to Lisbon.
If you’ve ever dreamt of a place where the ingredients are so fresh they practically introduce themselves, then let me point you to Ha Noi Xua – a tucked-away gem on Av. João Crisóstomo, lovingly recommended by Jo’s friends Maddy and Kelly (who clearly know their way around a good noodle).
Jo knows me well. I’ve got a soft spot the size of the Mekong Delta for authentic Vietnamese home cooking, and this place delivers with heart, soul, and a side of Saigon beer. The pho here? It’s not just soup – it’s a slow-simmered love letter from grandma, with a broth so rich and layered it deserves its own Netflix series.
We kicked things off with chicken wings and fish sauce – a combo so sublime it should be illegal in at least three countries. Then came the seafood crystal spring rolls, light and refreshing like a polite breeze. But the real showstoppers? The bun cha (yes, real bun cha!) and BBQ pork ribs that were sticky, smoky, and so delicious they made us briefly forget our own names.
And then came the DIY pancake rolls – a ceremony of folding, stuffing, and rolling that felt like a family reunion in edible form. It’s interactive, it’s messy, and it’s pure joy. Just like Ha Noi Xua, which is family-owned and run, with service that’s warm, attentive, and full of pride.
Verdict: If you’re craving food made for hot weather and hotter hearts, Ha Noi Xua is your spot. Come hungry, leave happy, and maybe bring a bib for those ribs.
We are a group of 8, so we get to try different dishes, and they are all on point!!! I particularly love their eggrolls! Authentic Northern Viet cooking! We love it and the salted coffee is on point
Very nice and friendly owners who greeted us warmly & friendly! Wait staffs was nice and prompt!
The place is also spacious for Lisbon standard, oh, and very clean bathroom
They have a superb lunch deal cost €11 including a main course + a drink. If you order a starter with it, you only have to pay extra €3 which I highly recommend you to do because these starters are absolutely delicious, and cost half the price of the standard order.
For Vietnamese folks, if you need anything extra, ask for it, they will provide it happily. I didn’t know I can ask for extra bean sprouts, lemon, fresh chilli, etc. with Pho.
Highly recommended.
The staff here are also very warm and welcoming. They noticed I was Vietnamese and immediately made me feel comfortable, which added a nice personal touch to the experience. The atmosphere is cozy, the service was fast and attentive.
If you’re looking for a place with great food, friendly service, and a genuinely good dining experience, this is the spot. I’ll definitely come back the next time I’m in the area.
