They had a set menu and happy hour discounts, so we had a great meal! The corkage fee was only $10, which was really nice. They even gave us a s’mores dessert—it was such a great experience. I’ll definitely be back next time!

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ was a good experience overall. The meat quality was great, and the flavors were decent, but the portion sizes left a lot to be desired. We got the Meat Lovers for Two, but it wasn’t sufficient and we ended up ordering more à la carte.

Our favorites were the short rib, along with the à la carte shrimp and spicy pork. However, the appetizer chicken karaage was disappointing—it tasted more like KFC or frozen chicken.

While the food was enjoyable, the portions are too small for the price point. Unless you’re serving wagyu, it doesn’t justify such tiny servings. A decent experience, but the value for money could be better.

Food was really good and the experience was fun. Chief complains were how long it took to get meats after ordering them (especially since there’s a time limit) and the price. Recommend getting the all you can eat with the regular package, it has everything you need.

Our family had a wonderful meal at Gyu Kaku. All of the meat served was flavorful and delicious. The cooking was actually entertaining and our clothing didn’t smell like food due to the very thorough venting systems at each table.

The servers were pleasant and accommodating. The pricing aligned with this type of restaurant.

This bbq spot is a gluten-free heaven. The menu is clearly labeled with tons of options, and all but 1 of their sauces is GF. So happy I finally had lunch here!

Food:
I had the $15 lunch special with 2 meats, miso soup, rice and salad, and added the garlic mushroom for $2-3 extra. The Toro Beef (thinly sliced beef) was great and the spicy sauce was amazing. I wouldn’t order Angus Beef rib (thicker cut) again because no matter how long I cooked it, it was hard to chew.

The salad was very fresh and the mushrooms were great. The extra garlic sauce from the mushrooms was perfect for eating with rice.

Service:
Solid, friendly service that checked up on me frequently. The 2 servers were very smiley and patient in answering my questions.

Atmosphere:
It was chill during lunchtime and I like that it didn’t get very smoky like some bbq places do. The restaurant and bathroom are both clean.

It was a great value and I’ll definitely be back for their lunch special, and meal sets for groups!

Service slow zero communication with guests. Incredibly frustrating. Food mediocre and overly spicy, tiny portions, s’mores great. The busers rocked and were the only ones that would help get the servers I appreciate you! .. Will not ever come back. It’s rare I ever write a negative review, just hope they will improve if they hear some feedback…

We went for lunch and got 2 lunch combos for 2 people. So we got to try 6 different meats, we added the $2 garlic rice upgrade and it was worth it since it came with more salad in the bowl!

Going at lunch on a Monday, was very empty.

Lunchtime is worth it!

Go for all you can eat and get the toro beef + angus rib. Other marinated meat flavors were too strong. Small plates so you can try most of the menu. Waiters changed plates a lot and refilled water. Green tea ice cream tasted artificial but it was nice to eat a cold sweet thing after bbq

We arrived at 5pm as a party of 5 and we were seated right away. All the different food we ordered were all so good and the service was great too. We ordered the Avocado Kaarage Salad, Cold Tofu, Beyond Bibimbap, Spicy Beef Bibimbap, Garlic Fried Rice and Garlic Noodles.

Pretty good for a chain. San Francisco location was much better then one we tried in Hawaii. We chose wagyu course for 3 to share for 4.
Meal came with great sides, delicious garlic noodles.
Ordered few extras and fortunately they forgot to add. We were very full by the end.
