I’ve been to this Gyu-Kaku location a few times, and it’s always good.
I don’t remember the exact name of the meat I ordered, but it was one of my favorites tender, not too fatty, and perfectly seasoned.

The sauce it came with was really good too.
They also serve three types of dipping sauces: spicy, soy-based, and sweet all of them go well with the grilled meat.

The vibe is not too loud, and the staff are always friendly. Definitely one of my go-to spots for Japanese BBQ.

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ never disappoints! The food was delicious. The variety of cuts and marinades offered something for everyone, and grilling at the table added to the fun and interactive dining experience.

Our server Jeffrey was amazing. He was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the evening. His exceptional service made our visit even more enjoyable.

Highly recommend!

Horrible service. Extremely rude wait staff and unprofessional manger who saw what was happening and ignored the situation. Came to this location once had a similar experience ordered premium and they didn’t have two item menus but didn’t disclose until after we had ordered, slow service and rude waiter.
Thought it was just that time and we Came again and ordered premium and once again they did not disclose that 3 or 6 premium meats were unavailable. We ordered side items that never came another reason to upgrade, which there was no point because we only received our side orders one time from the first time we ordered.

Then when our check came they tried to charge my 12 year old as an adult, and my 5 year old as a 6 and up? I’m not sure why, because no one ever asked their ages. And they shouldn’t have age parameters if it’s going to be based off of what the server thinks. I don’t mind paying for my kids, they made it seem as if I was lying about their age, and I said they were more than welcome to ask my kids their birthdays and ages. Shouldn’t ever have a dining experience this uncomfortable.

Never had an issue at any other location (Brea or Victoria gardens) but this one I have had a negative experience at more than once. Saw the table across from us and guest were also visibly upset. A lot of money to spend for subpar service, and unprofessional management that doesn’t even ensure their guest are having an acceptable experience.

Very Disappointing Experience – Won’t Be Returning

We’ve given this location two chances now, and unfortunately, both times left us disappointed, this last visit especially.

We came in on a Friday night around 7:40 PM and chose the all-you-can-eat premium option, which is $50 per person. After just one round 2 toro beef, 1 angus beef rib, 1 New York steak, and 1 pork belly we were told they were already out of toro beef.

Toro beef is the only reason we come to Gyu-Kaku. It’s our go-to item every single time, and the only reason we even tried other meats this visit was just to change things up a bit. Being told it was out after one small round, barely 20 minutes into the meal, was incredibly frustrating.

To make matters worse, this wasn’t the first time on our previous visit, they were out of angus beef rib. For a restaurant advertising a premium all-you-can-eat experience, this seems to be a recurring issue. Why offer these items if they’re rarely available?

Our grill was also malfunctioning and dried out our meat. After raising our concerns, our server who was kind and professional said they would adjust the bill and just charge us à la carte, bringing the total down to $70. But considering how small the portions are per order, that didn’t feel like much of a resolution at all, and that’s when I asked to speak with the manager.

When I tried to explain the situation and suggested that they let customers know ahead of time when they’re running low on popular items, the manager, Boomer, dismissed it entirely and said, “That’s not how I normally do it.” Insincere apology. No effort to understand our frustration. Just complete indifference.

Then, without saying much else, he walked over, placed the bill down at our table, said “It’s half off,” and walked away. To be clear, we only received 2 toro beef and not 4.

The only good part of this experience was our server, who was doing their best despite the situation. But with management this unprofessional and unaccountable, it completely undermines the entire dining experience.

We won’t be returning to this location. The lack of preparation, poor communication, and unprofessional management made this even more frustrating than enjoyable.

Poor value for money.
The price is too high for the quality of the meat.
The portions are small.
The sauces are nothing special, and the servers are unprofessional.

This is the Cerritos outlet of Gyu Kaku Japanese BBQ. The cuts of meat are of good quality but the price is higher than other decent Asian BBQ joints with similar quality cuts. Also the service is rather less attentive and you have to wave for service. They do offer some Japanese side dishes such as tacoyaki and karaage. It is a decent place to enjoy good cuts of meat on your own grill.

Love this place, when I was here I was planning my next trip already!… Fun idea and perfect for all occasions. Parking in rear if front parking is crowded. Seconds away from the 605 freeway. Decor is nice and calm inside. Seems like it can get crowded fast maybe a reservation is the best way to go! Japanese Restaurant …. Who knew I would actual like it … The idea I cooked the food made it so much more enjoyable for me. I haven’t ate Chinese or Japanese in a few years. #Good Eats!

The menu has been updated so o decided to update my review. First of all this place has the marinated meat you can possibly eat. It is the king of all meats so tender and juicy. Plus the employees have great customer service. I recommend this place for any special occasion. Do not hesitate to come because it will be the best decision of your life . The prices are a bit pricy however it is worth it because you feel very full

Tucked away in the corner of the strip mall. I’ve come here a handful of times, and every single time has been a great experience. While this place is pricier than Gen, they offer more in terms of sides and quality of meat. I’ve tried the different price points and can say that no matter which one you pick, you won’t be disappointed. Remember to save room for ice cream or s’mores at the end.
