Nice hostess and waitress they made us comfortable on the patio even in the winter. Also a great ambience for a date or drinks. Food was a bit of a let down considering the fact the restaurant had a great atmosphere.
The rooftop, I must say, was most interesting. Elevated above the mortal bustle, it offered a fine vantage from which one might gaze upon Buckhead and imagine oneself a baron surveying his electric kingdom. I found myself thinking it might be even lovelier at night, when the city’s lights perform their twinkling ballet, a spectacle far more reliable than the service at many a tavern.
As for the libations, the Blackberry Mule did steal my affection. I dare say it ranks among the top five cocktails I have encountered in all Atlanta and I have gallantly suffered through many in the name of research. It was spirited, well balanced and left me feeling momentarily convinced that life might yet have meaning.
Regarding nourishment, our party partook only of the Moroccan spiced lamb flatbread, which proved most decent, though small enough that one might suspect the lamb had fled halfway through preparation.
Finding the place, however, was a small adventure in itself. It lurks mysteriously behind another restaurant, as though ashamed of its own happiness. But persevere and your efforts shall be rewarded, they even validate parking, which in these trying times is the truest expression of love.
The restaurant is vast – a bar area, an inside area, and an outdoor patio on the balcony framed by the buildings of Buckhead.
The menu is slightly smaller than some of the other tapas bars in the city, and it is probably a little more expensive. Having said that the quality of the food was wonderful!!!
We had the hummus, the albondingas, the Moroccan chicken, the octopus, the strip steak, the Brussels sprouts, the jamon, and paired it with a bottle of Chardonnay.
Everything was spiced to perfection with strong flavors, but really complementing the ingredients. The onky dish i thought was overly sauced was the strip steak…
The service was significantly slow, not because of our server. He was amazing.. but from our vantage point, he was taking care of the entire outdoor patio and that was too much for 1 person. Mgmt needs to think through this issue
The ambiance was fantastic weather in the 80s. A breeze keeping things cool, the music at the right volume. A bridal party celebrating a family out for dinner. Several couples out on their dates. It was a wonderful crowd
Gypsy Kitchen delivers. Even if a little pricey. They just need to give their servers a chance by reducing their workload…
