Got the Paitan red ramen. Super flavourful and umami bomb broth. Nicely tender pork slices, and well-prepared onsen tamago.
Got the pesto gyoza per our server’s recommendation. Nice bouncy texture on the skin, good garlic flavoured filling, and nice pesto flavour on the sauce with shaved parm on top.
Umeshu black super nice and refreshing drink.
Jellyfish with wood ear and cucum was fantastic. Slight kick from the chili pepper. Hidden gem side dish.
Very friendly staff and helpful.
Worth a visit. Should’ve tried the Taki Gyoza (10 gyoza in paitan broth) but wasn’t super hungry.
We went here on a Friday night near 9pm ish. It wasn’t busy, but we were able to sit down after 10 mins of waiting.
Service was a bit slow, I think its due to few staff and quite a number of tables.
The food…well was alright. Tried it once, probably won’t come back here again. We got the red paitan gyoza, paitan ramen, fried rice, shiso gyoza, cheese gyoza, and yu lin chi fried chicken.
The gyoza…well its the same gyoza with different toppings on it…not worth it for the price. The fried rice was okay, less egg mixed in, salty basically very imbalance for only $15.00. Lol what a letdown. The red paitan gyoza had chives on top, it’s so useless, just looks cool. Probably the yu lin chi fried chicken was the best thing here, but not for the size and is priced at $13.50. It had ginger in the sauce (I think) and parsley on top.
Overall, it’s not a place I would go back to or recommend to others.
Ample parking in back, its located where the old Tenkaipin used to be in Kapahulu. Had to wait a bit since we didnt make reservations but it wasnt long.
Ordered side dishes (sliced tomato, eggplant and potato salad), char siu and the 10 piece gyoza, along with the spicy Red Paitan Taki gyoza that comes in a small hot pot. For additional charge you can add rice to the soup after youre done which is a good finish to the meal (zosui).
Although it was busy service was rather quick and friendly. Air conditioning wasnt on or broken so it was a bit hot. Overall a good experience, 5 stars
It can get a little loud in there so if you get overstimulated easily, like me it might be an issue.
Parking is a little crazy but you’ll make due.
I ordered the red gyoza in broth. It was good. Just the right amount of spice (wish it was a little spicer).
In my personal opinion, it wasn’t worth $30 ish for 10 pieces of gyoza. There’s an option to order 20 pieces at around double the price. We did finish the 10 pieces so we added the curry cheese risotto. That was pretty heavy.
Overall, what I got for about $50 just wasn’t worth it.
