Guthrie’s Chicken Review
If you’re craving simple, no-frills Southern comfort food, Guthrie’s delivers exactly that — and then some. Known as the original chicken finger restaurant, Guthrie’s sticks to what they do best: golden, crispy chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, buttery Texas toast, coleslaw, and that famous Guthrie’s Sauce.
The chicken is consistently juicy on the inside with a perfectly seasoned crunch on the outside — not greasy, just right. The portion sizes are generous, and the box combo (fingers, fries, toast, slaw, and sauce) hits every craving in one shot. Their signature sauce is tangy, creamy, and slightly peppery — dangerously addictive and definitely worth asking for an extra.
Service is usually fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is casual — great for a quick bite or a late-night food run. Prices are fair for the quality and amount of food you get.
Overall, Guthrie’s is a go-to spot for classic, satisfying fried chicken done right. It may not be fancy, but when you want quality comfort food, it more than delivers.

The food is what you’d expect. The chicken tenders are better than most fast food places but won’t change your life. The fries are fine but nothing to brag about. What makes this location worthy of five stars is the staff. They are friendly, upbeat, and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door.

Ordertaker 400 gave great customer service, and she was very welcoming when I came to the window. I haven’t had great customer service at a fast food restaurant in a awhile here in Montgomery. We need this service at more restaurants here in Montgomery.

For $16.49 for ONE person O was expecting a little better service. NO ONE mentioned my condiments where in the box so I asked for a couple of honey mustards an was told they would be .51 cents each but this time she would let me have them so she gave me ONE. I sure as heck didn’t mind paying but I would also have liked to know they were in the box although it would seem someone made my choice for me cause neither sauce in the box were honey mustard and got trashed. For that price and a meal called the Big G Box I would think for $16.49 you would be a little more appreciated. Slaw was ok, fries were ok, chicken was good but could have stayed down in the fryer a minute longer an would have been perfect. Don’t think I will be back.

Wait a minute. Is it Alabama version of Cane’s Chicken Fingers?! Everything is almost the same, even the sauce tastes like the same. However the fired chicken fingers are not as crispy as Cane’s. The staff is not welcoming, we as dine-in customers have to wait quite long before they finish the drive thru orders. The room AC is too low, waste lot of energy and produce unnecessary carbon emissions.

Was Guthrie’s the best chicken I’ve ever had? No. But for fast food fried chicken tenders was it some of the most juicy, crispiest, and lightest fried chicken? You bet it was. Guthrie’s is what everyone says Raising Cane’s is, but much better. The thing that put my experience over the top was the kind and engaging young folks busting their butts to ensure quality service and a clean environment. Who ever manages this location, I hope you know what a great staff you have!

The chicken tenders were really good. They light and not enough! I took a picture but had already eated a few. Yes, the box will run you about $11. Eat slow, it will eventually fill you!
Oh and the sauce! Yummy! Had enough left over to dip with my fries!

Have gone there twice. The first time, the food tasted a little burned and the chicken was dark (wish I had take a picture for contrast). There was little to no wait, but it was in the evening, during dinner hours.
Decided to try again, this time during the day. The food was better, however there was about a 20 minute wait time.

$10 for 3 tough chicken tenders the size of my thumb!! The sauce was MANDATORY – without it the chicken had zero seasoning, and it was like chewing rubber! The crinkle fries were mushy as well. Their mil discount is a free drink. Overall, I wasn’t impressed.
