Chicken was good and spicy . Couple caveats. Chicken is prepared at the moment so it will take it’s time so don’t come here if you’re in a hurry, I would say around 20 mins but the chicken is hot and fresh so it’s worth the wait. Refill and souvenir cup, I always get the lemonade . I got 3 piece but it was a bit too much for me even though I was super hungry after the wait so next time I would get only two pieces, tenders are a great option as it has the same spice but on a chicken breast portion. Chicken is spicy even for me but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

If you want truly amazing fried chicken, Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken is the place. The chicken here is simply unbelievable, perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served piping hot with that signature flavor that keeps you coming back. Every bite tastes fresh and cooked to absolute perfection. The chicken thighs, legs, and tenders are all spot on, and you really can’t go wrong.
The sides are solid, but the chicken easily steals the show. The fried green tomatoes and fried okra are excellent choices, and the baked beans are fine, classic, and simple. The mac and cheese tastes a bit like Kraft’s boxed version, so it’s not the highlight, but honestly, the chicken is the only reason you need to go.
Dining in makes the experience even better. The staff is friendly, the service is great, and the atmosphere gives off that authentic Southern comfort vibe. Prices are very reasonable, around $40 to $60 for two to three people, especially for the amount of food you get. You’ll leave full and satisfied.
If there’s one thing I’d change, it would be upgrading from plastic utensils and styrofoam plates to something sturdier for the price point. But aside from that, Gus’s delivers one of the best fried chicken experiences you’ll ever have. Come hungry and don’t skip the chicken.

I visited for the first time today and I was NOT disappointed. Derek our server was so kind, knowledgeable and attentive. It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced that level of service. It felt like instant family. The food was hot and delicious. I had the 4 Wing special. The chicken was so well seasoned. I couldn’t stop eating it. I’m not sure of everyone’s title that worked there, but they came over to check on us and we had great conversations. The food was amazing and service was even better. Im excited to return. The one thing I will add though is that my young daughter had chicken tenders and she said they were too spicy. I should’ve asked if they would have the spicy seasoning as well. But I tired them and loved them because I love spice. Just something to keep in mind if you take children with you.

Loved the fried chicken. Spice was hot, but not overpowering. White and dark meat were tender and juicy. My crew had collards, potato salad, and the fried okra was so good we ordered more to go! Ronald took great care of us and answered every need. Restaurant was open, clean, and right on the downtown street. We are already talking about going back soon.

First time eating at Gus’s anywhere outside of Memphis, TN. They had a catfish special, which I tried. The fish came out hot and fresh. It was fried perfectly, and my husband loved it. But, I don’t care for a lot of spice on my food. I could taste the hot sauce, and that made it difficult for me to enjoy. I was disappointed by the greens but could have had seconds of the coleslaw. It was good. I know Gus’s has good chicken, but today, the chicken tasted like it could use a little more seasoning. I’m sure this was an exception, not the rule. Great location. I wish they had some outdoor seating out front because it was a little chilly inside to me.

These guys have my favorite fried chicken bar none. It’s freshly fried so it takes a second but man oh man is it good. The juices and the oil come spilling out and it’s crispy as can be. Legitimately can’t be beat in my eyes, never had it fresher anywhere.

I really loved this place! The fried green tomatoes were very good! My dad had a white meat meal, with the Coleslaw & Baked Beans. He loved everything! I just ordered a breast (couldn’t eat anymore than that after the FGT) The breast was really good-however, it does have a little bit of heat in the breeding. Not too overpowering though. I was fine with eating it, as long as my sweet tea was ready to go, lol! There was just us in there, along with another family. But, they did seem to have a lot of pick up orders going out. So hopefully, they have enough business to keep them up and ready!
