Went for the burger and fries and so much more made us happy! The poutine was delicious as well as the taleggio hand pie. And the buttermilk pie tasted like the chef might have Bluegrass or southern roots from KY or TN. It was so down home and decadent.

Wow!!! Had dinner at Gus Gus last night and already can’t wait to go back for more. The scallops with lemon risotto were absolutely incredible. Really nice wine list, although lean, I had no troubles finding great wines to pair with each course.
Service from Haley was genuinely warm and hospitable, you can tell the staff actually like their jobs and who can blame them with such delicious food.
Happy hour was buzzing and definitely on the louder side but did not detract from an excellent experience.

We loved our dinner here – generous portions and affordable prices for a night out. Wine list was thoughtfully curated and well priced too. The Jell-O shots were such a fun touch! Especially loved the Goodbye Earl cocktail. We had a number of outstanding dishes. The overall winner was the steak tartare but the grilled prawns and scallops were wonderful as well.

We had a great time here! Friendly service, an intimate atmosphere, and a creative menu that definitely caught our eye.

We started with the chips with speck, crème fraîche, and smoked salt, which ended up being the star of the meal. Thin, crisp, and perfectly salted, the chips were balanced beautifully with the tangy crème fraîche and savory speck. Simple but executed really well.

The poutine was a fun twist with fried gnocchi instead of fries. The texture was spot-on—crispy on the outside, soft inside—but the dish overall felt a bit too heavy. Between the cheese curds and gnocchi, it needed something to cut through the richness.

The cheeseburger was solid—smashburger-style with good seasoning. The patty was juicy and flavorful, but the edges could’ve been crispier to really shine. It’s a classic burger that checks the box for the basics, but there wasn’t anything particularly unique or memorable about it.

We also tried the Spritz Salato, which was light, refreshing, and had a nice herbal bitterness from the Amaro and sherry. It paired nicely with the snacks.

One disappointment: we were really looking forward to trying the French toast dessert we saw on their website, but unfortunately it wasn’t on the dessert menu when we visited.

Epic food, service and atmosphere is so cute! Only complaint is how loud it gets, it’s hard to have a convo without yelling and can’t hear anything. They do mention that on their website so we were well aware to expect that.
Ian, our server was on point, so friendly and fun.
We ordered the shishitos, prawns and burger. Cocktails and wine list are great. Chefs kiss

Fantastic. That’s the first word that comes to mind, fantastic. A quaint fancy restaurant tucked into a local St Paul neighborhood, and it delivered in every category. Our bartender Kara was friendly, suggestive, knowledgeable….she recommended a great drink to my wife. The food was out of this world. We ordered the mussels, and the poutine oxtail gnocchi….and it was a dream. The fried gnocchi paired with the poutine and oxtail, it is so easy to make a dish like that heavy or overbearing….it was perfect. The customer service was also just great the entire time. Peak hours and busy in every corner, not a single table was open; it didn’t matter. Everyone was knowledgeable and willing to help at a moments notice. This is how a date should be had in 2026. If you’re in the area, you owe it to yourself to pay a visit.

Food was A+ and service was excellent. Small room with little noise absorbing ambiance made for difficult intimate conversation. Burger was divine, the scallops were perfectly cooked and the drink of the moment, a Sidecar was delicious.

Went to Gus Gus for happy hour with friends and sat in the bar. The cheeseburger did not disappoint, good bun and perfectly seasoned. The halibut was small but tasty. The chili nachos were good but I’d skip the olives and corn nuts. Cocktails were tasty and they also had beer on tap. Limited parking in the lot.

On my way to check out the work of well-known local designer Laura Hlavac, I decided to stop by Gus Gus for happy hour. I’ve always loved this spot — tucked right into the heart of the Highland neighborhood, it manages to feel both lively and intimate at the same time.

I went with the happy hour halibut. The flavor didn’t disappoint — it was delicious — though I found myself wishing the portion had been a bit more generous. The Brussels sprouts had great flavor too, though they leaned a little heavy on the salt for my taste. My cocktail, on the other hand, was a standout: light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced.

All in all, a nice little break before continuing on to my next stop!

Food is good authentic and creative. Gnocchi is a real treat with the oyster mushrooms. Chips with spec is a bit too salty.
