Guncles Gluten Free Bakery specializes in artisan treats that everyone can enjoy! We small batch blend whole grains to create our special gluten-free flour. Wholesome, fresh, gluten-free ingredients are used in the baking process to create flavorful recipes inspired by our parents, our travels and our rich Southern culture. Guncles is the only dedicated gluten free bakery in Mobile and Baldwin Counties of Alabama. Guncles is open Tuesday – Saturday.

I’ve been gluten-free for over a decade, and now our 6-year-old is too—which makes finding kid-friendly GF food a real challenge. We’re from Florida and were driving to New Orleans when my husband discovered Guncles. He was so excited about it that we planned our overnight stop just so we could eat there—and wow, was it worth it!
When I say it was the best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had, I’m not exaggerating. We also grabbed some goodies to take with us: the cheddar biscuits (amazing!), the chocolate and spiced fig cake (so delicious), chocolate chip cookies (I want to buy more to give as gifts!), and their regular biscuits—which totally hit the spot.
I was so impressed. But beyond the incredible food, the owners and staff were kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s rare to find a place with both outstanding gluten-free treats and such heart behind it.
It was so good, we’re actually trying to swing by again today before they close to grab more to take home for ourselves and our friends!

As a commercial gluten-free baker, I’m very discerning about GF spots — and Guncles on Government Street absolutely blew me away. I’m from Mobile and had heard from family and friends that I had to visit next time I was home. While in town with my kids for a high school volleyball tournament, we had some time between matches so I drove over to sample their goods. Wow.
Their Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Toffee Cookie is possibly the best cookie I’ve ever eaten — not just the best gluten-free cookie, but the best cookie, period. Perfect texture, rich flavor, and just the right balance of chocolate and toffee. The owner-operators are warm and clearly passionate; you can see their work ethic and creativity poured into everything they make. The bakery feels cared-for and the products reflect that pride.

Although I’m not gluten free, I have tried many gluten free baked goods and have never been that impressed, until now.
Guncles absolutely nails it when it comes to accomplishing a totally gluten free product without sacrificing flavor or texture. We tried the cinnamon roll, bread pudding, cheese & herb biscuits, banana bread, and raspberry lemon friands (don’t judge us! ) and everything was absolutely DELICIOUS!
Highly recommend and will absolutely be returning!

I just finished a 10 day tour of the US South and made sure to stop by this gluten-free bakery while staying in Mobile, Alabama.
This is everything that I bought at Guncles gluten-free bakery in Mobile, Alabama this past Saturday!
I purchased:
1 cinnamon roll. $5.98
2 pack of oatmeal creme pies. $13.98
1 Raspberry lemon friand. $7.98
3 pack of cheddar herb biscuits $8.98
Mobile, Alabama sales tax is 10% which added another $3.69 to our bill for a total of $40.61
I’ve been to 33 US states and this is in my top 2 favorites for gluten-free bakeries. Yes, it is spendy so it is a treat, but these were INDISTINGUISHABLE from gluten products. It was shocking how the texture was so on point. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and I remember how “regular” food tastes and this tastes like the real thing.
If I could only get one item, I’d get the cheddar herb biscuits. They were incredible.
I had my non-celiac husband try everything and he said it tasted like the real thing.
A male staff member walked us through the options and suggested a mini cake. We had to pass because we were not going to be anywhere with a refrigerator for the rest of the day. We got these items to-go because we had to be in Mississippi before lunch time. There is a small area for sitting inside but if you have a party of more than 2, you will need to take over the outside picnic tables.

I was diagnosed with Celiac about thirteen years ago, and it was rough trying to find great gluten-free food. This morning, my boyfriend and I went in there to try a few things. Not only were the staff so amazingly nice and awesome, but the food they serve is delicious! We will definitely be going back there! I got the oatmeal creme pies (as big as my hand), Bodacious Berry Cake (strawberry Bundt cake), and a cinnamon roll ( I also got it warmed). Delicious food and amazing people!!

Always amazing. Everything I have ever had is top tier baked goods and for it to be gluten free is phenomenal. Most gluten-free cookies tend to be dry and crumbly. Not Guncles. I don’t know how they do what they do or what magic they possess, but I’m sure glad they are there!

Wow. Extremely impressed. My husband surprised me with some treats this weekend for our anniversary and everything is incredible. I just went gluten free this past year and gf or not these are some of the best pastries I’ve had in a LONG time and I’m pretty picky about desserts. Not dense at all, not too sweet, all around wonderful. We tried the cinnamon rolls, mini chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, and the red velvet cookie sandwich. (Not sure of the names since my husband picked them out and I wasn’t there) but everything exceeded my expectations. Will definitely be going back!!

Fantastic gluten free sweets and bread option. My spouse is gluten intolerant and she was in heaven being able to get high quality sweets and breads that are free of gluten.
We took home a variety of items and everything was great. The cinnamon rolls are excellent. And that’s coming from a person that can eat gluten .
During our stop we were able to eat cinnamon rolls and have a cup of coffee, tea and OJ on a table in front of the store.
