Honestly, nothing but amazing things to say for this place! I absolutely love Dishoom when in Edinburgh, but I was told I must try Gumnam since I live in Dundee, and it’s right in the city centre – and I am so, so glad I did. The restaurant was super quiet as the weather was horrible, but Puneet was so friendly and helpful, walking me through the menu and helping me decide what to get! Everything (and I do mean everything!) was so tasty, from the starters to the desserts!

The wait time for food wasn’t long at all; things came out regularly, and we were left alone to enjoy. It was around £40 per person, and it was well worth it as we left super satisfied and full! Massively recommend the chicken wings, the Delhi samosa chaat, and the amazing gulab jamun.

7th March 2026 Update!

We went back again with friends last night and it was fantastic all over again! Our server was the amazing Suruchi, who was so lovely and made sure all our needs were taken care of!

This time we opted for some different starters and had to try the biryani, everything was phenomenal! If you haven’t been to Gumnam yet, I really really recommend it!

Gumnam is one of those places in Dundee that truly feels like a hidden find. I’ve eaten Indian food in some excellent London restaurants, and the standard here is just as good – rich flavours, great balance, and clearly well-prepared dishes.
The space is warm and comfortable, nice to sit in, though the décor could definitely be refreshed a bit. Service was brilliant, especially Prachi, who was welcoming and very attentive.
We ordered onion bhaji, tandoori wings, till wala prawns, Indo-Chinese Hakka chicken Schezwan noodles and lamb seekh kebab – every dish was full of flavour and cooked really well. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. If you’re in Dundee and enjoy Indian food, this place is well worth checking out.

Excellent dining experience
1st class food and service. Very reasonably priced and the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. We had the pleasure of having Dhruv as our waiter and he was lovely.
We ordered starters, mains and drinks for 4 and were only £104!
We will definitely be back the next time we are up in Dundee.
The empty plate in my picture speaks for itself!
Highly recommend a visit to this restaurant, absolutely % across the board.

Fantastic addition to Dundee’s growing and diverse culinary offering. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was sublime, fresh and flavoursome. We opted for the small plates, which were explained fully. Hard to pick a favourite but the I think the samosa just shone through. Booking is recommended

Had an amazing birthday meal here! Many fantastic veggie and vegan options! Great flavours, rich and complex and fragrant and well-rounded. The menu has lots of interesting street food options too, as well as brilliant curries, naans and rices. I loved the samosa chaat, the excellent baingan bharta, and we tried an exciting masala coke too! The restaurant is bustling and has a great atmosphere – but despite being busy we were never left waiting! The service we recieved from Dhruv was top-notch, super friendly and helpful, and definitely made this night even more special

We enjoyed some delicious Indian food and drinks at the restaurant. We tried the prawn and lamb biryani, and both dishes were tasty with good portion sizes. Mango Lassi was also good. Our server, Dhurav, deserves a special shout-out for being really helpful and friendly throughout our time there.

My only comment would be about the seating arrangement; the tables felt a bit small and congested. And, it would be great if they could introduce two or three food options for kids.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience!

The tiffin box from Gumnam Restaurant is the perfect solution for anyone craving a taste of home. Featuring creamy butter chicken, a comforting tadka dal, and fluffy rice topped with fried onions, every bite feels authentic and wholesome. It’s the kind of flavorful, high-quality meal you can enjoy every day without breaking the bank. Truly affordable, satisfying, and just like “ghar ka khana”highly recommended for a reliable daily meal!

Ordered a takeaway off Deliveroo whilst visiting Dundee after searching for a good Indian in the area. The vada pav was very tasty and full of flavour. The paneer makhani was very tasty in a lovely sauce. Good portion sizes. The Bombay aloo and butter naan were perfect sides to go with the curry. My partner really enjoyed his butter chicken too. Will visit the restaurant next time we’re in Dundee!

I absolutely love it here at Gumnam. It’s my favourite Indian style restaurant in Dundee. The flavours in the food are just amazing and everything is always so tasty. Well priced and the staff are lovely. It is slightly chilly when the door opens and closes with delivery drivers, but if you have a couple of layers you are all good. I love this place.

I have had the pleasure of eating at Gumnam twice now, and I have to say the food is absolutely delicious and truly amazing. If you’re craving authentic Indian cuisine, I would highly recommend giving Gumnam a try.

My first experience was through delivery on 28th September, when I ordered Butter Chicken and Bhindi Do Pyaza. The Butter Chicken was creamy, rich, and full of flavor. It was exactly how it should be. The Bhindi Do Pyaza was also excellent, with a well-balanced blend of spices. It quickly became a favorite.

On my second visit, I dined in at the restaurant. This time, I ordered Paneer Makhani, which turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The paneer was melt-in-the-mouth soft, and the gravy was packed with taste. I couldn’t resist ordering Bhindi Do Pyaza again. I guess I really fell in love with the way they prepare it. I also tried the Khumb Palak, and I thoroughly enjoyed its rich and flavorful gravy.

Overall, I had a great dine-in experience. The staff were kind, attentive, and very sweet, which made the meal even more enjoyable.

Highly recommended!
