Relaxed Cajun restaurant with patio lawn seating, serving up gumbo for eat-in or take-out.

Went for a Mardi Gras dance event. Service was great, restaurant was clean and the staff was super friendly. Food was also excellent, true southern style. I had the taste of the south which included the gumbo, jumbalaya and red rice and beans! Ended the night with some incredible beignets!

I was worried this would be a “theme” restaurant but it’s actually real with real Louisiana products. I grew up in WBR parish and this restaurant has all my favorites- gumbo, étouffée, jambalaya. I’ve only tried the gumbo so far and the nostalgia hit hard. I got to taste the chicken Alfredo too. I’m convinced everything here is top notch and can’t wait to hit this place up again next time I’m traveling here.
I think my server might have been new so I give him the benefit of the doubt. I asked for a hot tea and he came back with a half cup of lukewarm water probably from the flush of the hot water dispenser. Fixed it quick which is what counts!

Restaurant is 5 stars, service was excellent, food was delicious. I order the jambalaya bowl, Wow, flavor was amazing. Chicken and shrimp was my choice. With a layer of rice top and bottom. Second order, a chicken sandwich with fries. Chicken was moist and full of flavor, the fries engulfed on seasoning tasted amazing. I will recommend this restaurant to my travel friends.

Amazing food, I had the jambalaya, which was serviced with a non alcoholic piña colada both were delicious, and complicated each other nicely.
I’m excited to go back again, the service was perfect because I wasn’t asked constantly about if my meal with good, or not. Which is an issue I see in American restaurants. But didn’t get bothered more than once so 5⭐️ for you there.
Well when I come back I’ll be trying the gumbo, so super excited!

Would definitely be back soon. Not busy fast seating fast service food came out hot drinks were very good. The blueberry lemonade was so tasty. Had the gumbo seafood platter and it’s enough to feed at least 3 people. The Chicken Alfredo tasted the best. Savanah served us and she was the best definitely recommended to try for good food.

We had a great lunch here. Service was excellent, food was delicious, and the corn bread is a must if you are getting gumbo or jambalaya. Being located on 6th and think places like this gets missed which is unfortunate.
Try this place out.

Delicious drinks. Yummy food. Downtown location. Second visit in a month. I had the fried catfish remoulade appetizer the first time (no photo). It’s big enough for an entree.
The second trip I decided to get the fried catfish po’ boy. Catfish is delicious!
Both options were great.
My friend got the Taste of the South soup flight the first time (no photo). The second time I think he got jambalaya and gumbo. All were delicious.
The drinks were phenomenal.
Definitely recommend.

Tried this place out for the first time today. It was FABULOUS!
The Angel Hair was loaded with shrimp, thinly cut sausage, chicken and was very good.
The jalapeno cornbread was fantastic, not too spicy.
And the bread pudding for desert was very tasty!!
We will be back for sure!

Gumbo House genuinely surprised me—in the best way.
Excellent gumbo. The shrimp and oysters were perfectly cooked—tender and never rubbery. The sausage was good, but the gravy is the star: spicy, rich, and thick without being grainy.
The vegetables were firm and fresh, especially the okra. Who would have thought—great gumbo in Anchorage?
Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved the Gumbo House. We will be coming back and eating again. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was amazing, and our hostess was very nice. This restaurant is absolutely a gem within Anchorage, and if you’re in the area, stop by and get something to eat. We had the crab cakes, crawfish gumbo, and crawfish Étouffée, and for Desert, we had the bread pudding. This meal was worth every penny and enjoyable.
