If you’re ever going through Jennings, you should try Mike’s seafood restaurant. I had the stuffed catfish and my wife had the gourmet burger. Both were amazing! The burger’s bun is a jalapeño sour dough bun with a hint of sweetness. Excellent choice. Also the onion rings and mushrooms come in huge portions as Appetizers.

As out-of-towners from Dallas, we wanted to find someplace to eat dinner that wasn’t something we could find at home. After a quick online search, we found Mike’s.
The reviews were a mixed bag, with 5 stars from many and one of two from others. Despite the uncertainty, we decided to give Mike’s a try.
Best. Decision. Ever.
We were seated within a couple of minutes of coming through the door, and were greeted by the cheerful and fun Cara. She was energetic and engaging and fun to chat with. I’ve got some food sensitivities, and Cara went above and beyond to make sure what I was ordering was safe for me. I was disappointed the crab cakes had peppers in them (despite my love for them, they do NOT love me back ), so I ordered the sautéed shrimp in wine and butter sauce — Cara was attentive to make sure they omitted pepper and onions, since those are tough for me. It was DELISH.
Hubs had the grilled salmon with steamed veggies, which he enjoyed very much. The hush puppies were phenomenal, too.
Cara said the steaks Mike serves are the best ever. If we were here for more than one day, we’d be back to try them.
The food was excellent, but even that didn’t compare to the excellent service we got from Cara. Whatever Mike’s is paying her, it’s not enough. She was pleasant from beginning to end, and if we’re ever in Jennings again, we’ll be back and will be asking for section! She even told us about upcoming changes to the restaurant, which will be good to know if my husband ever has business in Jennings again.
The food was fantastic, the value superb, and there aren’t words for the service we got from Cara (and being I’m a writer by trade, that doesn’t happen often! ).
If you’re ever in Jennings, don’t miss this stop! And definitely ask for Cara — you won’t regret it!

I went to Gumbeaux’s with my family we were a party of (7) seven. The atmosphere was great the food was good for the price I did fill that it could have been more flavorful I did add seasoning at the table. My major complaint is about the waitress staff we literally had to tell our waitress to clean our table. It was suggested several times and that seem to go over her head. A tip was left but it wasn’t earned. Separate tickets were issued and I’m sure no tip was left by others who thought that it was unacceptable that our table so cluttered.

It takes forever to get your food. IF you get it hot, it’s great. The last three times I’ve gone, I’ve been given a cold steak. The only way you get a cold steak cooked medium rare is if it’s left out and not brought to the table. This has happened 3x with 3 different waitress. The common denominator is they’re all hanging out at the cash register up front and the kitchen is at the back. This food is way too expensive to be serving cold.

Food was just ok. Wanted forever for my sons gumbo for it to eventually be served cold. He ate it anyway but as we walked out the waitress was talking to the hostess laughing about the cold gumbo they served. We didn’t complain we just paid out bill and left.

We reserved a room over about a month ago for a family get together. When we got there the worker said it would take a bit to put together some tables then they would come get us. Once they informed the boss we were there the boss told the worker to inform us they could not accommodate us because we didn’t have a reservation!!! All of our family had to figure out where we would go eat! They turned down around $1000 in orders!!!! Their food isn’t that great anyway so technically they saved us money and saved us from being disappointed!

I do not give 5 stars often or lightly, they EARNED this one!!! Ima be thinking about that steak for a while!! It could not have been more perfect, especially with the seafood sauce they gave me on the side with it. (because they were out of the Etouffee)
My wife got the gourmet cheeseburger and she said it was really good too!
