My sister and our good friend went to the Gulf Stream on Tuesday the 16th of Septemberst 8:30 am. Our wait was a bit long to get our food since there were only 3 tables taken. Our waitress was extremely cold not one smile. I ordered shrimp and grits as the menu ingredients did not say onions were in them. And boy there onions in them!!!! It took me 10 minutes to dig them out. ( our waitress never came back to even check on us) as for my sister and our friend ,they had French toast and sausage links. Well… the French toast was not cooked enough and the sausage links were gray not browned at all. We ate cold food could’nt send back as we never had our server even check on us. We letf talking about this bad experience. Walked across the road to get some gifts. My sister had to leave because she felt sick. Barely made it to McDonald’s and got horribly sick. What a way to send our yearly vacation. Been eating there for 5 years and it seems like the food and service has gotten worse! Very disappointed and it ruined our whole day. Do Better Gulf Stream!!!! Go back to the good food and service we are used too!!!

I’ll start with the service , Pam is amazing very sweet and nice . Now the food. The portions are huge so you get your moneys worth . I got the big breakfast and the bacon and sausage were perfect. But the home fries stole the show! The home fries were sliced with onions and seasoned perfectly (not to salty like most places) they were stove top cooked not deep fried which is the only way to do them . Nice outside eating area but the only thing that I don’t like is its cash only and it’s $3.25 to get cash at the atm on site so bring cash

I came in hoping for a decent meal, but instead I got dinner and a live episode of “Owners Behaving Badly.” The food was whatever, but what really left a bad taste in my mouth was watching the owner absolutely lose his mind at his poor waitress because she dared—brace yourselves—to use a tiny Styrofoam cup to get a drink. Not a gallon jug, not the Holy Grail… a tiny cup.
He went off on her in front of the entire restaurant like she’d crashed his car into his house. Meanwhile, she was the only pleasant thing about the entire experience—super sweet, super professional, and honestly deserves a medal for not walking out right then and there.
If you enjoy awkward public meltdowns and the feeling of secondhand embarrassment while you eat, this place is for you. If not, go literally anywhere else.

Good breakfast, good price, good service! Will return when I come back to Carolina Beach. Cash only restaurant, states it clearly on the door.

They are only open for breakfast and lunch (close at 2) and are cash only. The food was GREAT! I had the calabash style seafood with shrimp and flounder and fried okra for my side. My better half had the shrimp and grits. No complaints. Everyone was very friendly and this was by far the best fried seafood we had our entire trip to CB.

Service was amazing. Food is top tier. Prices are reasonable. I would give more stars if I could. It was a perfect meal.

When we ordered, I asked our waitress if I could possibly substitute a cup of Greek yogurt with berries in place of the grits and she said she would check. Next time we saw her was when she brought out our food and I received the cup of Greek yogurt and no grits. The receipt that she later gave us also showed it as a substitute and the price reflected that. We didn’t realize this place only takes cash so I sat at the table while my husband drove back to our hotel to get cash. Ten minutes into my sitting there with the original receipt, a rude older lady comes over with a new receipt and says we need to pay for the Greek yogurt. I explained to her what happened and she said the waitress was new and they don’t do that. I told her I was sorry but that I actually couldn’t even eat the Greek yogurt because even though the menu states it has strawberries and blueberries, it actually came mixed with sugary jam. She said “yes that’s how they make it…berries cooked down with sugar” and the kitchen says you have to pay for it. I told her I was sorry but we would be paying the original receipt amount because this was in no way our fault. She brought me back the original receipt and said “well the waitress knows never to do that again!” My husband and I thought this was such terrible customer service. Clearly there is no focus or desire for returning customers. As we left, we handed the tip directly to the waitress (in hopes that she will get to keep it) and the older lady gave us the look of death as we did so. Won’t be back to this place again

Stream Restaurant is a fantastic hometown diner that serves up some of the best breakfast around. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to start your day. The menu is filled with amazing breakfast options that will satisfy any craving. Just a heads up, thoug, make sure to bring cash, as this place doesn’t accept anything else. Overall, if you’re looking for a great breakfast experience, Stream Restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

Casual, family-friendly restaurant close to the beach with delicious fresh-cooked food. Not too fancy, but the flavors were perfect. I got a chopped steak and eggs with grits and toast. The other meal was avocado toast with an order of cantaloupe, and cottage cheese. The cantaloupe was ripe and flavorful. The steak was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly to the order. There might be a wait, the restaurant is petty small. But the staff is friendly and everything is clean. I’m a southerner, so I can say the grits and iced tea were authentic!

Came for breakfast at the beach and the food, service, and prices were so good, we returned a couple of days later for lunch. They’ve got your basic diner menu, but the biscuits and seasoned fries were particularly delicious. The daily specials are only $10.50 and include an iced tea and tax! We tried Thursday’s turkey and dressing, and enjoyed an ample portion, along with candied yams and green beans.
The oyster po’boy was also really good, with 9 fried oysters and an especially tasty “sweet and spicy poppin’ sauce”.
Be aware they are cash only and have an ATM on site.
