Our servers were attentive and friendly and just wonderful people. The only downside I could see is that I wanted to get closer to the shelves to look at the variety of limoncello and wines and couldn’t because there were occupied tables in front of them.
Service was quick, so quick that I felt rush. They literally assumed you knew what you wanted and expect you to place the order as soon as you are seated at the booth.
As for foods:
French Dip – it was good but expensive for a sandwich.
Pastrami sandwich- I meant to order hot pastrami but ordered the wrong one due to the rush. The cold pastrami did not much meat as you can see from the picture. And was just ok.
Broasted Chicken- first time trying this and not impressed. It was salty, soggy, dried and chewy. I prefer the real deep fried chicken.
GM is really nice though. He has been working there for 25 years, more or less. He saw me taking pictures so he came out and introduced himself.
I might go back and try the hot pastrami and pasta, if I visit Scottsdale again.
I was very sad to find out that Guido had actually passed away around three or so months ago. He was a good man. I already miss him. This place is super fresh, clean and has so many things that you can order and take home to cook. I love the shirts. I love the history…
I just don’t understand that how sometimes my reviews just don’t show up. I’ve been coming to this place for over three years.
I swear next time I go, I’m going to try a piece of cheesecake that they make in house, it looked so good.
I WOULD RECOMMEND
The calzones were a standout: perfectly baked with a delightful combination of crispy and chewy textures. The filling was rich with oozy, melted cheese and packed with flavor. The accompanying marinara dipping sauce was equally impressive—vibrant, savory, and the ideal complement to the calzone.
The lasagna was classic comfort food done right. It featured tender pasta layers, a hearty, cheesy meat sauce, and a deep, savory richness that made it hard to stop at just one bite.
We also tried the chicken alfredo, which was creamy, well-seasoned, and generously portioned, and wrapped up our meal with the tiramisu, which offered a perfectly balanced finish, light, fluffy, and not overly sweet.
All in all, Guido’s delivered on every front: great food, warm, friendly atmosphere, and an inviting experience we’re already looking forward to repeating.
UPDATE: We visited a second time and tried different menu items (Meatballs, Raviolis, Roast Beef Sandwich and Broasted Chicken). All were excellent.
