The character for Gui【簋】represents an ancient circular food container. Made out of bamboo, it was used four thousand years ago during Shang and Zhou dynasties. This was my first time dining at GUI BBQ in Irvine, and I was pleasantly surprised. Even on a Saturday, we didn’t have to wait long to be seated, which was a great start. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table right away.
The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed—perfect for catching up with friends over a great meal. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food justifies it. We ordered a variety of dishes, and everything was cooked to perfection.
Service was friendly, though a bit slow at times, but that’s understandable given how busy they were. The staff wasn’t overbearing, which I appreciated, and they still made sure we had what we needed.
Overall, GUI BBQ is a hidden gem in Irvine. Delicious food, a great vibe, and a solid spot for a night out.

This place is probably one of the few places in Irvine providing BBQ skewers. I usually visit this place at night with friends. We really enjoyed the great food and drinks, it is not the best but overall is good and authentic with a lot of variety. The price is relatively fair considering the location of the restaurant. There are not many waiters and waitresses so they are pretty busy but they are helpful.

Great food! The menu is incredibly large for a skewers restaurant. We ordered appetizers (shredded potato salad, cucumber salad, jellyfish salad, pig ear salad) and skewers (lamb, beef tendon, beef aorta, chicken cartilage, chicken heart, pig intestine) and a few grilled vegetables (eggplant, chives, potatoes).
The skewers are seasoned with the same spice (which I can see may become boring after a few skewers) but I’d say it’s extremely flavourful – cumin, Chinese spice, fennel are the ones that I can tell.
In terms of heat, you’re given the option for mild, medium, and spicy. There’s no spice shaker on the table to add extra heat if you want additional spice.
Price wise came to around $50/per person, but a reasonable meal can be had for $30/pp.

The skewers were very good but the seasoning is same for everything. You have a choice between mild or spicy. The Dan Dan noodles had a strange “perfumy” smell and taste, we took a bite but couldn’t continue to eat it. I think this place is a good drinking environment while enjoying the skewers.

Great to have a Chinese BBQ place in Irvine, tried it out with my friend. The place is clean and well decorated. We spend around 100 dollars for this meal. The whole dining experience is great. Nice employees, sweet services. However, cause I am a all time picky person, the BBQ bun is too thick and not crunchy at all. The deep fried chicken skin is delicious but come in a ice cold plate. However, Their BBQ chive and picked chicken feet are highly recommended! And if you love spicy food, remember to ask for extra spicy here
