Build-Your-Own-Pizza ($15.95) plus
Honey Bacon Topping ($1.35*): Mini pan, traditional Detroit style, which was the only type of pizza made here. Crunchy but airy, blackened-edged buttery tasting crust, completely covered in slightly stretchy cheese, very saucy laid out in the expected double stripe. Each quarter slice had four-five bacon pieces, also edge-blackened like the crust. Loaded and filling. Takeaway pretty decent reheated.
Also, Fountain Drink ($3.45). Free refills.
Value: Pizza price, for good or ill, seems to align with other Downtown joints selling Detroit style.
*I did not appear to be charged for the topping add-on.
Atmosphere: Bare bones. A mounted TV faces the smallish seating area. The company logo looms large on the back wall. The Campbell’s Soup pillar remains.
Service: Very pleasant from John(?) manning the order station; he and the unnamed lady also circulated the floor checking on guest experiences.
We got the make your own pizza with vegan sausage, mushrooms, and jalapeño with the hot honey, garlic and parm tater tots, and salad, with the churro pizza to top it off.
Super solid food and staff! Guerrilla Pizza is a must have whether a local or visiting!
We noticed later they had Superman ice cream & the guy said it’s legit & they get it shipped from Michigan (if you know, you know). I didn’t get to try it this time but we will for sure be back!
