Sooooooooo good. The horchata is great. I got a rum floater on it and next time will have it neat on the side because of how epic the drink is without it. Michelada, never disappoints. The salsa has the perfect amount of kick (for Portland ) and they cut two sandwiches in half for us so we could share two tortas. The carnitas, well flavored and the texture you want that balances so well with the toppings. The Ahogada is heavy and well seasoned and the cilantro really adds the bright kick it needs. The staff was there and we were watched carefully without being interrupted often which felt good. Great neighborhood spot and for us was a sacred trek across the city. Enjoy!

Love this place! The tortas and the bowls are amazing. You have got to try the hot sauces – made in house and new flavors every day!!! Yummmm. And the vibes are good. Lots of nice fresh plants.

Great place with food that has lots of flavour. I have been there multiple times. Usually get the bowl or the hamburguesa which are great. Great place at any time of the year. In winter is specially cozy with candle lighting in the evening.

We had plans to pop in to another eatery for dinner, but it was a 30 min wait and we had tickets to a game. The eatery gave us a recommendation for Güero so we came here instead. They had just filled their last 4-top, but we were able to sit at the bar. Best spot in the house. Terrific cocktails, generous portions, and the carnitas torta was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I’ll have to come back and try the hamburguesa torta, as the bartender said it was his favorite thing on the menu.

Oh do I hate places like this. I don’t have many tortas. Which is what makes this place so challenging. They left little margin for anything better and left everyone else so far behind. Portion ideal. Flavor outstanding. Texture fantastic. Bread, almost, the perfect single use wrapper. (It was just hanging onto its substance with the last bite.) To say it’s just a sandwich would be an insult.

Also the sauce is not optional. It’s quietly placed on the table with a deafening command. “Try your food first without it, then ensure it’s in every following bite.” It almost has no right be as good as it is what the ingredients listed.

Wow, such good flavors. I got the masa y papa, partner got the carnitas. Mine had a great crunch from the patty and veggies with the bun being soft but well crisped, and the carnitas were apparently perfectly seasoned and were the highlight of the sandwich. The carrot habanero hot sauce is also great, not too hot and well flavored.

Stopped by for a quick Lunch meal, customer service was great, we were seated very quickly. Food came out at a reasonable amount of time. The reason why the low rating is because both of our meals that came with their shredded chicken was extremely salty. It was so salty that we had to stop eating. I believe that any chef should probably taste the food they are serving to insure the quality is right. We were not the only ones that had this issue as the people around us made some comments about the chicken. I would hope this was a one time occurrence. I would recommend with caution

I decided to try this restaurant based on its high ratings and glowing reviews, but my experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. Here’s my personal take—some may disagree, but that’s fine:
1. I ordered chips and guacamole after confirming it was not spicy at all so I could share it with my child. Unfortunately, it turned out to be spicy, which was disappointing. In fact, I couldn’t find anything on the menu that wasn’t spicy.
2. I ordered a bowl with chicken, avocado, and extra tomatoes. The chicken and tomatoes were overly salty, and the arugula wasn’t fresh—it seemed like it had been sitting out all day. The dish was overwhelmingly spicy and salty, but not in a flavorful way you’d expect from Mexican cuisine. It wasn’t a distinct spice like Habanero or Jalapeño, but more of a generic pre-mixed seasoning, like something you’d find at a warehouse store. One concerning detail I noticed at the end was that the ceramic coating on the bowl was chipped, exposing a rusty surface at the bottom—I really hope I don’t get sick from it.
3. The serving size was generous, but that didn’t make up for the disappointing quality.
4. There were no juice options for kids, which was inconvenient.
5. Overall, I found this place overrated and overpriced. I could have had a much better meal from a Mexican food cart and enjoyed every bite. I only chose this restaurant to have a fun outing with my baby, but it fell short of expectations.

The food was just okay, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

It’s been a minute since I went here. We came here for a quick brunch as we were in the area. The place was pretty busy with both the indoor and outdoor seats being filled up. We just kept it simple and ordered a couple of items – desayuno torta and a bowl (added carnitas and avocado). The torta was great as it they had the crispy fried cheese inside it. The bowl was also delicious and well balanced. The addition of the carnitas and avocado made a difference. Overall, we enjoyed it and will try to come back sooner rather than later.
